I just purchased 2 new BPS Extreme reels. When casting they both make a loud screach noise. It does not matter where the centrifugal brake or spool brake is set. I have another Extreme & Pro Qualifier & they operate normal. Have any of you ever heard of this or should I just go exchange. Bps told me on the phone they could not swap my line because they're too busy. So I figure if I can repair it would be cheaper than re-spooling.

If I were you, I wouldn't go to Vegas any time soon. I've had one do that (out of 5) and returned it. I believe it is just a bad bearing. If you bought it as a combo, bring the dog gone rod back with it, or the guys at customer service will drive you nuts. The guys back in the rod and reel section kind of bag on them about that, but do it anyway to make your life easier. You can exchange those reels for the older style or the newer style reels I believe. Your choice, both are very good.

It's frustrating. Both are bad right out of the box. They are the original not the new finesse.

did you try re-oiling it? I had the same problem, took it apart and re-oiled with reel-x. solved the problem.

Wenr to BPS today & delt with I believe Scott. I'm bad with names-sorry. He is a TFF member. He knew right away what the problem was & said he could replace or repair my choice. I said lets fix it. He took the side cover off & showed me where they were over-oiled from the factory. He cleaned both reels, attached to a rod & then we went into the warehouse & tested them. He even gave me some pointers on flipping while we were back there. He then told me how to finish breaking in the reels. THANKS.
