I need to join regular braided nylon to mono. Is there a certain knot that is good to use? This will be used on my baitcasters.

Thanks, Chuckwagon

Nylon, or a "super line"? I join mine(Stren super braid) with an albright knot, and have heard the uni knot is good too.

Boy I feel dumb. I can't think what the Albright is offhand. I always use the double uniknot though. Now I have to go back to the book and learn the Albright.

Double uni is the way to go. Worked for me for years without any problems.

I tied them both last night and the albright has a bigger girth and the double uni is a tad longer the double Uni was much easyer for me to tie...

The main reason I use the albright is familiarity. I used it for joining heavy(80-120#) mono to lighter lines(20-30#) when I was fly fishing offshore. It is by far alot stronger than the double uni, but a little more time consuming to tie.

Another option is the surgeons knot. It is very easy to tie. Never had a problem with it when I tied it properly.
Check it out on the same page as the albright knot.

I like a bloodknot, but it's a pain in the neck to tie. I think you need three hands to do it right.

I use a surgeon's knot if I'm in the boat. Much easier and quicker.....and I've never had the line break at the knot.

The blood knot is a cleaner knot I think, and seems to pass through the guides better.
