 2001 Mercury 225 EFI help!

I was wondering if someone could post a pic of their gear shaft (shifting shaft) just above the cav plate (transom side). I think I lost a cover or seal back there and I can't remember what it's supposed to look like.

its not suppose to fill that hole up. it shouls have a 1/8 gap around where the shaft comes through
