Was wondering if anyone has used one of these rods might make a few custom rods with the blanks.

Yes, I have four of them and they are great rods. Light and sensitive. I really like the 3 and 4 power models but the 5 and ups seemed a little heavy to me.

You might want to be careful with your Allstars, I hear if you do not have a warranty card, you do not have a warranty, any rods built prior to the Shakespere buyout without a warranty card will not be warrantied.
