i bet you'll love em i use the older citicas back when they were 2 b.b. instead of 4 i did spice my old ones up a bit by adding 2 bearings where there were brass bushings and wow what diff that made so i bet the new ones will be outstanding

Go to Shimano web sit for the specs. The Citica is what the old Curado SF (super free)was . The old Curado SF sells for $149.00 and the New Citica sells for $119.00 . Super Free gearing is now standard on most of their low profile bait casters . With 10 pounds worth of drag make that reel suitable for Bull Redfish .

When Academy was getting rid of the old citca's for $49 dollars I picked up 4 and just added two ballbearing in each one. After I supertuned them next to my curado's you can barely tell the difference. The new Citca is pretty much similar to the old SF curado like the last post said.

While the new Citca is quite similar to the older SF curadoes the new Citca is a bit heavier. I would try and find one of the old Curado SF's on ebay or something before i got a citca, IMHO.

the new citicas have been upgraded they are now using the parts of the old curado they have redesigned but it is the exact same reel as old curado. have had no compalints with citica except for the way worm gear is set up

can read more about them on my site www.satackle.com

I have seen quite a few posts about the new citicas and curados not holding up very well. I would stick to the oler ones if you can still find them.

Now the new Chronarch B series and the Chronarch 50 MGs are awsome.

I've seen quite a few old posts about the old Citicas and old Curados not holding up very well . I would stick to the old old ones (string and beer can) The super free ones are found at road side ditches and will not cost you a dime ! If you pick up enough , people will pay you for them !

I prefer the old Curado (non-super free) to the Super Free.

The old one had a three bearing spool shaft. The Super Free has the third bearing holding the pinion gear and does little to support the spool shaft.

The old Curado is the best reel made for the money - bar none.

I'm returning a new Citica today after only 2 days use on the water. Yesterday mine started making odd clicking noises while cranking, and I can feel something binding up in it. Never thought I'd say this, but.... where are all the good reels, the ones made in Japan?

Going back to academy with my POS Citica today, hopefully they'll have some old curados.
