No, I broke it when I was cleaning my garage.
Shouldn't they replace it for me ? After all, it was my fault and even though the warranty covers workmanship errors on their part, I feel like they should give me a new one.

Why should they give you a new rod if you broke it cleaning the garage?

I heard the reason why Allstar went under and shakesphere bought them was due to Academy has over $325,000 in broken rods due to they took anything back. Academy bought the Allstar name and moved the manufacturing of the cheaper Allstar rods overseas and the Houston, Tx plant was bought by Shakesphere. I guess we are at fault in a way for Allstar making the cheap poorly made rods.

I was able to take the All star rod back. I didn't know that this subject would get much attention. I do however like the fact that if i break another, I can take them back. To me, this is comparible to a tool w/lifetime warranty. offten times the tool breaks due to improper use. My fishing rod is a tool to me. and any company that can back up their products such as this, has to be reputable. I will however try to take care of my gear better, instead of just throwing my stuff in the back of my truck and gettin it. Thanks for all the help!!!

The problem is people think for $38 they are getting the allstar rod from the orginal company. The rod is similar to old touranment series rods Academy use to sell and all they did was put Allstar on the rod but they import them. It is what it is a cheap rod that will get you thru the day but nothing to brag about. The rod only has a 1 year warranty also not lifetime like they use to have when they were made in Houston. Academy refused to take two of my friends rods back after the blank near the handle cracked. I laughed at my friend and said when they go on sale for $20 or 2 for $40 just get you another one no big deal or put more in a better rod if you want something better.

Good stuff to know about All Star rods. I have been considering buying a saltwater All Star or a Texas Sidewinder. I think I know which way to go now.
Thanks guys....proof again that this site is good stuff!

I have been using All Star for years, all of my baitcasters are on All Star rods, and I have NEVER broken one. I have broken other rods, like the Berkley rods, and I think I broke a Falcon, but never an All Star. Regardless, Academy does replace them if they are still in stock.

That's not a lifetime warranty...that's a lifetime insurance policy. That's why everything has less quality these days, make the **** cheaper and it doesn't cost so much to replace every single rod that comes through the door broken for whatever reason. Doesn't really build a good name for the product but more so for the company. That shows you something about the markup on the rods too. Mark em up so high if half of them come back they still make money.
