Well, I just got off the phone with Rochelle's and have my shuttle all set up for friday late morning. I plan on putting in at hwy16 by the damn and spending Friday, Saturday and Sunday on the water. Two nights of camping and hopefully a lot of hours of fishing and relaxing. The only other time I kayaked the brazos was just a one day trip at the end of the year last year. I am really looking forward to seeing more of the river.
I have my one man tent, my sleeping bag, a 2" blow up mattress, my gps, toilet paper, tackle (although I would love to get some live bluegill before I go) My coosa has the chair in it I will use on the bank. I plan on eating from the can, i have a few stews, I will boil some eggs before I go and bring some fubars and maybe some trail mix. I have drink mixes and I plan on freezing some water, but I have a filter as well if I need more. cooler. emergency paddle, first aid kit,
I am probably forgetting something, but have a couple of days to catch it before I go.

Sounds great. Wish I could go. I'd go every week if I could. You are going at the best time of year for floating in my opinion. If you forget anything, you'll probably do just fine without it.

Are you going on by yourself? Yes I am. However, if you see me out there feel free to say Hi. I will be in a olive green coosa.

Watch out for Banjo music, JK. Have fun I was planning on doing this with at least one other person before it gets too cold. I did it about 15 years ago with 3 other couples and my ex-grizzly.

My perfect time away is being alone on the river. When I lived in Iowa I used to take vacation for a week and grab my one man tent, one meal for each day and hike up the DesMoines River until I found somewhere that I did not talk to or see anyone for a week. Man that gets me re energized.
I am wanting to do some river camping next spring in the Big Bend area, I will try to get three or four folks to go along on that one. Maybe a 7 day trip? Safety in numbers on a long trip. 3 days and 2 nights on the Brazos I am not too worried about.

This past weekend we were we were catching sandies near the bank/structure and largemouth on gravel points with flowing water.........go figure eh. All on chartreuse crankbaits or jigs.......oh and a black/blue back rattletraps. Water was perfect. For Saturday nights campsite try to get the spot directly across from the three boulders. Good luck and be safe.
