I am considering a 4-hour trip to the jetties (isn't the jetties where those trips go?) next weekend. I heard good fishing now? Also worried about getting sea sick. I'm a wuss. Is it very rough out there? Or, should I stick with fishing the surf and bays, like usual?

Thanks!

Took my 5 year old son out on the Texsun II (Capt Williams, Galveston Party Boats neighbor) for his 1st saltwater fishing trip weekend before last. Water was smooth & clear with a high in the low 90's... unfortunately the fish just weren't biting at the first two spots they tried, only 3 fish caught on the whole boat. 3rd spot we got lots of nibbles and stolen bait; pinfish & piggy's galore would chase your line up to the surface along with something that was either juvenile spadefish or sheepshead. Got one HUGE hit by something that opened the hook but we didn't land anything. Son made my day though when he told me, "it's OK Daddy, I had fun just hanging out with you!"

There were 10 bull reds caught at the 3rd spot, along with a couple of dozen slot reds and some of the biggest piggy's I've ever seen. One kid caught a ~2ft blacktip, another guy hooked a ~4ft spinner shark (I didn't see it, what the deckhand called it) but it broke loose near the boat & anothe kid caught a juvenile cobia of all things.

I'm thinking about heading back down this weekend & giving GPB's a try...

I deckhand for galveston party boats down on pier 19. The 4 hour jetty trip is a good option right now. Fishing in the bay has been quite good. This past weekend even with the north wind we were still able to get almost 40 bulls on Saturday. Since the weather has since stabilized fishing should again be really good this weekend. I would recommend taking some Dramamine if you have never been out like that. It can get rough in the bay and its not much fun to spend the whole trip over puking over the rail. Take it the night before and in the morning before you get on the boat. I hope you have a good trip!

Sandy
