I have used the Uni-Knot for years. Simple to tie, even in the dark. Key to any knot is wet it with water/saliva before cinching it down.

With fluorocarbon line I'm hearing you have to use a different knot than usual. When I find out for sure I will post it here. I'm waiting to hear back from Sunline right now.

You should try this out: www.knotfreefishing.com

No I don't get anything from this. I have used them and I think they are great.

Definitely palomar. Keeps it simple and it has never failed me or my clients.

This is the only knot I use with mono anymore - I developed it for rope a few years ago, then last year tried it with mono and powerpro braid - but it slips out of the braid.

Goes fast even with cold fingers & low light conditions. Improved clinch and palomar knots both broke before this one in tests of 6, 8, 12, 14, 17 and 20lb mono. The line breaks before the knot with less than 17lb, but the knot occasionally breaks 17 & 20.

Sorry about the poor do-it-yourself graphics...

blue end leads to rod tip

step-by-step:
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

After passing the tag end through the lure eye, bring it back and wedge it in between your thumb & finger in front of the loop. Then pass it around behind the loop and wedge it between your thumb & finger again.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

around the loop with the lure eye...as if you're choking it off, then through the other loop from back to front.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Pull tight & snug it up. Try it - you'll like it - better than a bird's nest. wink

Works great with most kinds of rope - it'll hold tight without slipping but unties easily. Or you can double the tag end back on itself & push a loop through in step 5 - it'll hold tight then release quickly with a tug on the end.

Ditto the Palomar for just about anything (although I'll have to try out that JTexas knot)

If you want the bait to move more freely, choose the Rapala knot, but not sure it would matter for a Beetle Spin.

My $.02
