Anybody here make buckhair jigs? I'm not a pro by any means but I was watching some video of a guy fishing amd he showed it in the water and it had a larger profile and sank slower. I would like to add something like that to my box.

It falls slower because the hair is hollow. As far as larger profile that can be done with other materials as well. Most hair will fall slower even the ones not hollow.

I like Kip tail better, but it's shorter. I guess the buck tail for me just doesn't have a lot of action so I like for a long hair Fox which I have a lot of. I have a lot of both and can tie most anything.

By the way if any of you jig makers need some top of the line, Champion bred Jack Russell terrier hair just let me know, cause if he doesn't stop barking he won't need it. grin

Jig man that there is just toooo funny. I have thought of doing the same thing to Sugar Baby my wife's cat. I would be scared to do it because both are cantankerous. Don't know which one would hurt me the worst.

Mell, just let me know what colors you want and I'll fix you up.

Hey CH
The collar on the jig in your photo...is that thread or some kind of plastic? Looks nice. I saw some stuff in a fly tying catalog the other day. Dont remember the name of it but it was some kind of thread and when you finish the fly you put a solvent on it and it melts all together like a plastic sleeve.
