jjen, did you have any problem with this upload into your unit. I downloaded version 1.3 just the night before and everthing worked fine uploading into the unit, however, I repeated the steps twice last night for V1.4 and there was no automatic upload into the unit and no change in version on the unit.

I don't have either of these units. I have the 332c. Since you have upgraded before without problems you may need to contact Lowrance. Try Linda Colt at Lowrance. You could send a message to linda c on this board. http://basszone.com/messageboard/main.htm Or contact her by email: lcolt@lowrance.com Or by phone:1-800-324-1356 #8747

I just tried the 334c igps version 1.4.0 download.... now I don't have any pages other than MAPS. The double push of the menu button does not work either.... I am really hosed! I have a tourney on the 23rd and now I'm fishing blind! CamoLee

Did you do the web installer? If so try the stand alone installer. Download it to your computer and execute it from there. Be sure to select the option that it will not check for an update. If that fails try a reset. Save your waypoints to a card.
Reset the unit: with unit off, press pages and power at the same time, then release both buttons.
If that fails: Do a hard reset on the unit. Make sure that you have saved your waypoints before doing this reset. This reset will erase all memory in the unit. Please follow the procedure below. Turn unit OFF. Press and hold the ZOOM IN. Press and hold the ZOOM OUT. Press and hold the POWER KEY. Hold all three keys in until the USA Map appears.
These resets are from Lowrance's web site.
One thing the upgrade indicates is: Added "Choose Viewable Pages" window
I don't know the ramification of that.

i still cant get the 1.4 to upload. Camolee, i had the same problem last week with the menu screen. I would push menu once and the first menu screen would come up. then push the second time and NADA, the menu screen went away. I came home and downloade V1.3 and installed in the unit and everything worked fine. Now i'm ok, except I've tried to download V1.4 using the same previous steps i did with V1.3, but nothing is happening. V1.3 is still on the unit V1.4 does not seem to be going on the card at all. I was thinking i was going to have to do a reset too, but you have to get to your second menu screen to save the waypoints to a card. Luckilly everything worked out. just still no V1.4

I did a little creative hunting on the lowrance website. usually the link on the page points to where the files are stored. As updates are made, the link is changed to the location for the new files. However most companies don't delete the old files or where they are located. Through changing the url name.... I was able to locate the version 1.3.0 files and download them. The current link on the page is "http://www.lowrance.com/Software/upgrades/LMS/LMS-334CiGPS_140/Default.asp". I suspected the LMS-334CiGPS_140 was the location of the new upgrage.... so I just changed the url to point to LMS-334CiGPS_130 (notice the changing of the 140 to 130 which translates version 1.4.0 to version 1.3.0). By changing the 4 to a 3.... got me to the old version 1.3.0 download page.... I down loaded it and loaded it into my unit. I am now up and working. I wish Lowrance would pay a little more attention to their products... I have had nothing but trouble with this 334C.... and all the problems have been nothing more than poor workmanship on the part of the software folks at Lowrance (like not trying a download out before notifing users to download it and upgrade). I will keep the number for Linda Holt and still call her on monday.... just to tell her how they really need to pay more for their software folks... so they can hire better ones and stop damaging the reputation of Lowrance. I need to also suggest to them that they make older versions of software available (some folks don't know how to creative hunt like I did) so that if this happens again... at least the folks out there can get back to an older version of software that at least worked. I think you just lucked out that they hadn't moved the 1.3 software. It wouldn't work this morning for the 334C. It didn't work yesterday for 332C.
Several years ago I had a Garmin Emap. One of their updates wiped out a $175 proprietary memory chip that it used. They replaced the chip. However it cost me shipping and a month to get it back. Things happen especially with software.

Did anyone contact Lowrance on the failure of the 334C update? Just interested.

I have not heard anything from anyone. I believe I have it on my chip now, but I'm afraid to upload it onto the unit.

It looks like this guy was successful. http://bbcboards.zeroforum.com/zerothread?id=132967 Read post by lv8rman. It could be a power problem or I have noted problems with some makes of SD cards in the past.

I had the same trouble. Would not auto start the download process. I tried the web download and the local download. Neither worked!
I sent Lowrance and email several days ago and have not heard as of yet.
However, after several days I downloaded via the web one more time. IT WORKED!!!!!
So I'm hoping they may have corrected it.
Also, I downloaded the 1.3 just in case the 1.4 didn't work. All is working fine with 1.4 now.

Exactly what does the update consist of? If your unit already has the previous update what will the latest update do for you?

It simplifies some of the menus and has some added functionality for the 'flasher' screen.
It should correct some issues with the sonar recorder as well, or so they say.
