i think pp sells the parts individually, but will probably discourage the one pump two poles setup, but i am looking into this setup also and would like to hear Aarons opinions on this setup.

I knew being an engineer would pay off for fishing someday....
1. Pressure will not be concern as the pump is rated for a certain pressure regardless of volume.
2. Same pump output in gpm times twice th volume = 1/2 the speed moving 2 cylinders versus 1.
3. If the cylinders are double acting then reservior size doesn't matter as there is the same volume of oil on both sides of the piston and the pump just moves oil from one side to the other with the reservior there for only minor losses. If the cylinders are single action or ram style then the volume of the rod displaces a certain amount oil which the reservior must be designed to hold when the cylinder is in retracted position.
4. Any wear on one of the pistons, rings, seals, or housing that allows bleed by will cause the speed of each cylinder to be different. This can be fixed by adding a flow divider. This shouldn't be a big deal as when one cylinder encounters resistance (the bottom of the lake or cylinder bottoming out) then the other one will catch up. Most hydraulic suppliers carry flow dividers, just make sure they are rated for the proper GPM flow of the pump.

Actually, I have already checked into running 2 poles off one pump and sent a email and this is what I got back...
"Dwight, To give you a short answer, yes, it can be done but we do not recommend it. You simply will not be pleased with the performance of running two Power-Poles off of one pump. Here is why... the power and speed of the pump is decreased to almost half and the work load of the pump is also doubled. What also happens is one Power-Pole will usually deploy first until it makes contact with the bottom and then the second Power-Pole will follow. Hydraulics will take the path of least resistance which also means if pressure is applied upward to one Power-Pole it will try to force the other Power-Pole down and vice versa. Having dual Power-Poles connected to one pump also makes the built in release valve become not near as functional as it would be with one Power-Pole. This release valve is what allows the Power-Poles to retract if they are accidentally left down prior to getting on plane. Long story short, you will be much happier with a true dual Power-Pole system and truly see the benefit of a dual system doing so. Please let me know if you have any further questions!"

good input. Yes a flow divider would help with synchronizing and thats good info however like you said, cylinder resistance would allow the slower of the 2 to catch up. IF my main issue were to be speed, which is sort of a trial and error deal, what is the name of the valve I would need to accomplish cylinder regeneration?
Honestly I think the engineers at Power Pole PROBABLY over rated the pump upon engineering. I would be willing to bet a steak dinner that the current pump will have no trouble keeping up with 2 poles. Literally, the pump sounds as if it is being restricted during unloaded operation. Like if it had 2 poles the pump would encounter less resistance to flow. This is just my opinion and thats why I would bet that steak......

I am not sure if a regen circuit would work with this setup since the cylinders are pretty small diameter to begin with plus the added valves (I think it would take 2 to accomplish regen from both cylinders) would take up more room and I think the goal of the original post was to save money and space and by the time you add a flow divider and additional valving now you could have paid for the second pump unit. I believe if the owner of the system can handle reduced speed, deployment of one pole before the other, and reduced pump life then one pump will work and save ~$400.

A bit off topic...but 2 poles 1 pump

Have to thank you for that letter Dwight. I wish it put me at ease but its letters like those from people who probably, in all actuality, DO know what they are talking about that drive me to prove em wrong!!!!!! Why is that???? Anf yes I probably would be better off to just buy another unit........

I just had my 2 pro power poles installed by rockwall marine & I only have 1 pump.. We used them last sun @ Hubbard creek & they worked just fine..
Wreck in 08 I died twice but with the grace of GOD & the amazing staff at Parkland Hosp I made it thru... It wasn't my time... Fully disabled & fishing every day...

The other poster made a good point. You may not always want both poles deployed - maybe there's structure on one side of the boat and not the other. It probably wouldn't happen often though.

Does this really work, and where can I find a reasonably priced pair (starboard and port) adapters PKD-S-2-6?

I've got a novel idea. Why not make one pump that will run 2 poles!?!?!?!? I mean is it all simply a matter of selling more pumps? I would love to have 2 poles but I just don't have the room for another pump. The transom area of my 2001 boat wasn't built for all of these new gadgets. It's crammed full already.

The other poster made a good point. You may not always want both poles deployed - maybe there's structure on one side of the boat and not the other. It probably wouldn't happen often though. The problem is 99.9% of the time, there will be a different depth under each pole. Therefore, one will be holding and the other will be not holding. So, why waste money on two poles if only one is gonna reach bottom each time.

I tried going the cheap route on a bracket, tried to make it myself. I had a piece of 3/8" aluminum and access to everything under the sun at work: plasma table, sheer, brakes, tig machine. It looked like hammered [censored] so I decided to make it out of stainless. It looked fine but was twice as heavy as the aluminum. I could have bought 3 from power pole for what I had wrapped up in labor doing it myself lol.
