How do I find out what size bilge pump my dads 2002 Skeeter SL210 needs without looking at it? I'm trying to buy one for my dad but the boat is in storage.

With so many choices,if nobody offers any ideas I would call skeeter, any brand other comparatible boat size, don`t think no set rule ,just need something that will pump water as quick as it comes in. JMOP

I'm not aware of any standards for bilge pumps. Just figure the bigger the better. If you can get an 800 GPH pump in that location then put one there. The faster you can get the water out the better if you need it. Most new boats come with either a 400 GPH or 500 GPH.

Jody +1 If your goal is to get water out of the boat, then get the biggest pump you can afford/add.

The amount of water a pump can discharge is also relative to the size of the discharge hose attached.
You could install a 1000 gph pump on a 3/4" hose and it ain't gonna pump any more water out than a 750 gph pump.
Additional electrical load requirements for a bigger pump should also be considered!

My 19ft skeeter has 800 gal per hour pumps on the live wells and bulge. The pump size depends on the size of the discharge hose. A 3/4" hose is good to a maximum of 800 gph. Larger pumps require the larger 1 1/4" hose.

I have a 17' ProCraft fish N ski. It's old 79, I'm not taking any chances I put a Rule 1100 GPH, 1 1/8 outlet, with smooth 1 1/8 hose. The corrugated hose restricts the flow quite a bit.

I had to change mine out a few months back and if I were you, I'd make the effort to pull the boat out and look at what is now in the boat. Then I'd replace it with an exact new one or, if you can't get one exactly like the one you take out, get something as close as possible to prevent a lot of work, replumbing and maybe mechanical switches, etc. Makes for a very simple changeout if you get the exact same pump. Also, chances are the only thing you may need to replace is the motor and not the pump. You need to see it to know one way or the other.

Replacing it with an identical one makes for simplicity in plumbing and mounting. If you stay with the same size discharge, you may still have to drill holes somewhere to mount a different pump. It's probably not goingto be a big deal, I just hate to drill holes when I can use an existing one. If that's not a big deal go with the largest one that uses the same size thru hull discharge.
