It is a Jack Crevalle. They get pretty big. I caught one about 12 pounds in the surf off Galveston a few weeks ago.

Don't think its a Jack Crevalle - mainly due to set of yellow fins under gills, scutes are not right either

Compare with this juvenile jack crevalle


Notice no yellow fins under gills - looks like cross between blue runner and yellow jack - interesting

Its a Jack Crevalle . Not uncommon for there fins to be yellow especially when the water quailty is as good as it has been.

the top is definately crevalle. I honstly think the fish in the hand is a blue runner. even juvie crevalles have the black spot on their head behind the eye
