Stay away from the Carbonlite rods from Bass Pro...I have broken 5 of them this year. I do like to 7ft Temple Fork Outfitters Rod. I converted all to those. Reasonable priced and Gary Loomis designed.

I have 2 of those rods and never had any problems with them. One is almost 2yrs old and i still use it at least once a week. I'm actually going to buy another one this weekend.

If you are refering to buying a Carbonlite make sure and buy the replacement warranty. I actually called Bass Pro corporate and asked them about the issues with these rods because I bought 3 of them in Florida and 2 in Grapevine. I broke 4 of them setting the hook and 1 just casting a shakey head. They said they have had issues with some of the batches and would be happy to replace them. The Micro eye rods have had the most complaints. My problem is the last thing you need is a rod breaking in a tournament. I have replaced all with the TFO rods which are heavier.

Times 3 to the loomis, but on a cheaper scale check out the basscat boats spinnerbait rod. I got one given to me and I love it. Throws a chatterbait .up to a 1.25oz spinnerbait great. It's a 6'10 xheavy but I wouldn't rate it xheavy.

I have a Rick Clunn signature series rod made by Bass Pro that I really like for spinnerbaits. They no longer offer them,so I would say a BPS proqualifier or extreme would be similar. The one I have is labeled as 6'6" medium action but its got more backbone than most mediums do. In your case I would go with a heavy action since your casting bigger spinnerbaits. I generally stay around 3/8 ounce so a medium action works well. I use the 6'6" length instead of a 7ft to cast underhanded under pilings, overhanging trees and such. In your case a rod over 7ft in length would be ideal.

I have 3 carbonlites and have caught 7 to 9.5 lb fish without breakage. I would recommend them for any technique that requires a sensitive rod.
