I have talked w/alot of people when I'm fishing about line, just to see what everyone uses & I was wondering what you guys like, what brand, what test, if you have problrms with breakage, line-twist etc etc.
So let's hear it & I mainly wanna know about the line you use for OUR BELOVED LIL FISHIES

Stern 4 to 6 pound test line for the Sunnies. I will be switching to all 6 pound test line on all of my Sunfish reels by the end of this year. I get way better results using 6 pound test line.

I agree. Six pound Trilene XL, which is the essentially the same line as Stren, is my work day line for ultra light reels. Buy it in 1000 yard economy packs and replace it as soon as it begins to wear or twist. I use Low-Vis green. The line is .009 inches in diameter.
For the Diawa Goldcast reels I use Spiderline Super Mono eight pound test line, which is .010 inches in diameter. The slightly larger diameter line casts better on the larger reels. I bought a 4000 yard spool and replace the line as required for best results.
Some fishermen recommend .008 inch diameter four pound test line. I find the .009 inch diameter line casts better and lasts longer.
For any line you choose replacing it often gives better results. Even the premium lines begin to twist after a while.

I prefer to use 4...It makes the fight with the fish that much more enjoyable. I also use 4lbs test for catfishing oddly enough but i do use 20lbs test line for a leader though. Largest fish I have caught is a 12lbs carp on 4lbs test...Best fight I ever had.

I too really like the 6lb Trilene XL mono. Use it on all my ultra light reels. Last time I was at Academy they had the 3000yd spools of it on clearance for about $5 Bought like 3 of em so I should be set for awhile

Berkley Vanish Also monofilament in structure, these lines are made with PVDF, commonly known as fluorocarbon. The popularity of fluorocarbon is largely due to these lines being invisible to fish. Unlike nylon, fluorocarbon refracts light nearly identically to water. In addition, fluorocarbon lines are fast sinking due to higher density. Since fluorocarbons do not absorb water, they also maintain their original strength and abrasion resistance. 2-6# is what I use.

Thanks DD I might need to give that one a try and see the difference .

Yes, I know Im a fly guy, but I use 8' of mono every day. I use Stren (HI-IMPACT)HI-VIS green or pink #10 to #15 depending where and what type of structure I'm fishing. I have never had a problem with line visability yet that I know of and thats even using it in ultra clear salt water on my conventional rods. I replace at least the last 4' after a few fish on conventional gear, I replace the fly mono as needed but use new 8' everyday At the first of the month I was using #8 cheap Stren thinking I could handle any fish if I was smart. I had two break offs not including the ones that broke off in brush piles. Thats my story on line...Its like buying insurance you really never know what you got until you need it. Perhaps you can get by on #4 and never have a problem, I cant. Ernest Hemmingway managed catching huge marlin using very light braid, but a heavy leader...

Im usually switching between fishing for different fish, i just put a 2-3ft leader of what ever mono i have and clip it to the 30# power pro braid. but i noticed the sun fish dont seem to care if they see the line, sometimes i will have them striking at the bobber
