Bought a crosswater/reddington combo. Had several problems (cracking around rod ends), No warranty with this package, however if would be found as manufacturing defect would wave 60 dollar fee. Anyways, rod is out of commision. Looking to get another 5 wt rod (still have reel). Looking for economic (cheap price) but a rod that will last.
Got plenty of lures but dad gum fish just wont cooperate. Wannabe fisherman in training.

I'll third that motion but recommend test casting a few rods before buying. If you're near McKinney this Saturday you can "test drive" a lot of different rods.

I've broke my cheapo st croix rod three times now.
It was a 9 ft 5 weight.
It is still my favorite sub 8 rod that has a sweet spot with my teeny wf 5 line, and now works even better on a 7 weight sinker
The point being is that that fly rod isn't the only thing I have around here that could ( well, can ) tolerate losing an inch or two. I guess I am just lucky that way... What, with some of the water here being "cold, and deep too".

Unless you are wearing a grass skirt and sleeping in a ditch and eating only road kill, you too are part of 'the problem'.

TFO Signature. Less than $110 or move up to the 4 piece Professional Series at around $150.

I would third the TFO Professional. Keep in mind it is a 4 piece, so you can travel easily with it ... more important, it comes with a lifetime warranty ... you can stick your neck in to TFO's World Headquarters in Dallas anytime to take advantage of it.
A few bucks extra up front but worth every penny.

Q: How do you recognize a Dallas resident on a trout stream? A: He is fishing TFO. I do like the Pro series in the 3wt or 4 wt for a small stream/dry fly rod. Softer than most other TFO sticks. That said, I have seen many more TFO rods break than I have seen Echo (some where in the 30:1 ratio) Echo rod break testing
