Rant #1
Are there any lakes in Texas where u don't have to use special caution will launching or driving Ur boat? This is getting beyond depressing. I'm scared to ask but how much longer can the lakes take this drought before all the lakes dry up or u can't put a boat in anywhere?
Rant #2
I'm a volunteer firefighter and we had a meeting in our county with the national weather service and they told us to saddle up for a long winter, And to be honest I'm tired of seeing people loose lives and property cause some idiot don't know what a burn ban means it they think they can chunk their cigarette out the window and think it will be ok the wind will blow it out. anyway ill get off my soap now. It's just frustrating that we aren't seeing any sign of relief. I now kreng everytime the tones got off.

There are some lakes in the Austin area... not sure where Weatherfor is.... This lack of water is tough on us all...

People throwing Cigs out the window should be put on the front line fighting what they potentially started... Maybe that'll open their eyes

Ya no kidding, I smoke and keep a soda can in the console with liquid in it. It's not exactly difficult, in fact it takes less effort than tossing it out the window lol.

Used to do exactly the same thing. Finally decided to just quit....5 weeks and no cigs.

Must have done it around the same time I did, this is day 55 for me!

But as the original poster said, I wonder just where and when this will stop with the drought. I'm afraid to see what lakes will be like if we continue through the winter like this.

The constant level lakes in the austin area are still good. Lake austin, LBJ, Marble Falls, Bastrop, Fayette... all the constant level colorado river lakes are good... that LCRA sure is smart.

+1
One day after cleaning out my truck I forgot to put a new can in and even pulled over while driving on a county road surrounded by farm land to stomp out the cig because I was scared of starting a fire lol, moral of the story is just have a soda can with liquid or buy one of those cup/ashtrays at an auto parts store thumb

Using special caution while driving a boat is kind of needed no matter what lake. Even when Waco is full I contantly scan the water in front of boat. You never know when a floater has been "waked" off the shore.

A lot of these lakes are easier to navigate with lower levels. The stumps right under the water line are now above it.

Limestone is a scary lake when it is full. It is a awesome lake when it is 4' low. It is unlaunchable when 7' low.

Lake Alan Henry is still holding good. Only about 6' low & fall fishing is picking up. Not a far drive from Weatherford. Volunteer firefighter myself, amen and ditto.

On the bright side; they were lower in 2006.

Glad to have taken..."the trash in the back!"

Better get used to it. I was just reading this is supposedly the beginning of a ten year cycle of drought conditions. At the current rate a wet sponge or a can of gold bond powder for chafing will become the hot lures to fish with.
