The prime function of a fishing lure is to catch a fisherman......... catching fish is an incidental, or accidental bonus. smile

I haven't seen this bait you are referring too, but I was watching "in fisherman" and they took a trick worm or floating worm on a leader about a foot off a swivel and took two 2/0 or 1/0 hooks and snelled them and put one in the head as normal and the other hooked just behind the eggsack creating a bend in the worm. The idea looked good and ofcourse he was catching monsters, no telling how long it took him but when you are in stocked pond chances are good pretty quick, but that idea looks like it might worth trying.

my theory on lures is if it is on an infomercial then it is not worth anything. I think Darthduck hit it on the nose.

Once as a teen, fishing with my parents, they trolled, I cast the banks, and shores.

On a particular day, I tried all my usually productive lures, but got nothing. My father suggested, "Son, put that lure you made on, and try it." Mom stated," Thats just a piece of wood with hooks, it ain't even painted"

The lure was a piece of oak broomstick that I had fashioned with a rasp, and sandpaper, and had put hooks and an eye from a broken old lure, but had never painted, or even used.

I put the broomstick on the snap-swivel,.........it pulled in a good stringer of LMBs and put supper on the table......that day and many others.

And, that was the day before TV lure ads. smile

Back in the 50's fishing with my Dad in our old green plywood boat he and my uncle were discussing the latest "must have " lures. After Uncle Juju said " But everyone is using Cripple Killer's and catching Bass". Dad said, and I quote:" If everybody was fishing with the end of a broom stick, only lures made from the end of a broomstick would catch fish".
You had a goldmine and could have made your fortune if you had of just promoted it... laugh wink

jro51,

Don't sweat it--they do make those infomercials awfully convincing. The biggest fish I've ever had on my line in my entire life was actually on a helicopter bait at Raybob (sure, it was the ONLY fish I ever had on the bait, but it was a giant!). I would recommend trying Berkeley Bungee worms. They do what the walking worms are supposed to do, plus they have better colors and Powerbait scent. They can be killer baits when fished very slowly on inactive fish. They are a go-to bait for me when the bite is REALLY tough. Just my $.02.
