Today's post on the Texas Sunfishing blog is by Mike Cox,USMC_Gy_09. Mike talks about the advantage of baiting the fish with what they normally eat.

Thanks Mike for your support. If any of the rest of you want to post an article please get in touch with me. We need fresh blood. I am sure you get tired of reading my stuff.

Great blog. Although my experience is limited, I've used bugs I've found in the vicinity of a fishing area with similar results. The limiting factor, as always, tends to be the durability of the bait and my willingness to grab ***** with my bare hands.

For me I've learned so much; can't wait for the spring and to try a variety of insects.

Love bluegill fishing with mayflies. Back at my home lake (Lake Weiss in Alabama) we would sit for hours at the docks fishing with mayflies. 50 gills/hour wasnt uncommon. Sure they weren't all 9"+, but it sure was fun!

That was one FANTASTIC article. That makes a lot of since that a fish would eat what is natural. I guess the same would apply with a hatch of Crickets, Butter Flies, Etc. Again a very good report! cheers That was a great idea using those May Flies as bait! hooked

Great report. Not only about fishing. But cooking with Mike also. That is the simplest recipe for muffins I've run across.
