So I've never seen the Brazos at 800 cfm's but sounds fun. Thinking about going down Wednesday and heading up stream from Rochelle's and doing some fishing. Is that much water coming down going to have the fish in a funk and make paddling hard or will it be nice?

You better be a real strong paddler if you expect to get upstream with that kind of flow.

Have to agree with RBR on this one. Done it below PK at 400cfs. It was doable paddling back up stream but the shallow areas were pretty swift paddling back. Had to get out and walk back up due to current strength and that still was a work out. Not sure what 800 would be like around Rochelles.

It'll be a fun float but it'll be a hard paddle back upstream. Looks like they are settling at about 1250cfs for now.

This is pretty interesting. Notice the fairly long delay. It took almost 12 hrs for the water to make it from Graford to Palo Pinto.

Also, time and distance took quite a bit of the steep sharpness away.

Yeah that looks pretty serious. Was just wanting to do a day trip and thought I'd go check it out. Might be going someplace else now.

Have no clue how this would affect the fishing ... but, am I stupid (like risking my life, gonna die stupid) for thinking it sounds like a lot of fun?

Being a newbie to all of this, I really have no clue what this type of flow would look like. I was at The Cliffs on PK over the weekend so I saw the river conditions at the bridge before the release, but honestly not sure if this type of post-release flow would be "raging" or simply "swift".

I'll be a nice float. I've canoed from Rochelles when it was probably a foot higher and it only took about 3 hrs to do the ten miles.

Certainly not unmanageable and you should be able to fish all the wide/deep areas just fine.

The very good news is that you won't be hitting rocks on the shallows.

Thanks for the info ... that is what I suspected, but after reading some of this, I was starting to imagine back in the day when me and my college buddies used to do the whitewater rafting thing down the Ocoee River in East Tennessee.

Just spoke with Rochelles who said come on in the water is great!! Said the water has come up about 13" and some nice white caps at the bridge at Rochelles take out. Said it would be great for camping/fishing so I guess its game on for this Fri sat sun trip.
