...things I have not used in years. I can remember buying 6-8 Quantum Lite combos at Wal Mart years ago and thinking I was upgrading big time. I also remember the way the Stren always sang on the Bill Dance Show when he caught a fish. I also cannot count the number of fish that I caught on a ugly old H&H.
I love looking back in my old Bassmaster magazines and seeing a lot of the stuff we used in the 80-90's. thumb

If I still had my back issues you could look back to 1976.

I have to agree on the H&Hs. Man-o-man there have been a freight train or 100 of bass that have been caught on an H&H.

Ive got an old Fenwick with a pistol grip that I still use for topwaters.

My wife being from Louisana always remembered the H and H spinnerbaits so she buys them to fish with sometimes. She's caught many fish on rayburn with them...

Yep! I'm still hangin on to two pistol grip Shimano Magnumlite rods with matching reels with "Fighting Drag"! I was about 13 when I was practicing my roll casts in the swimming pool after watching ol' Jimmy Houston killing them on spinnerbaits. I met him a year or so later in DFW at a trade show and his son Jamie, we talked for an hour or so and they invited me to visit them in Cookson, I was a shy kid and never took them up on the offer, what an idiot I was!

Never figured how to put the hooks in an H&H. I'm gonna buy the next one I see and give it a whirl on my 6' pistol grip rod. They were really comfy to me.

Just don't forget to put the hook on the H&H. Makes you feel real smart when you fish around an entire pond and lose everything you hook, then get back to where you started look at the package you left on top of your tackle box and realize theres a hook in it, LOL.

Mark back in the 80"s I took my cousin fishing on Lake Fork,he was born and rasied in Rains Co. and had a dairy farm off of 514 near Elm creek back in the 70"s.He told me they were going to build a lake just across the road from where he lived in a A framed house with a 100 acers.Yes it was Lake Fork, rolfmaoSo I take him fishin on Lake Fork years later,he pulls out his tackle box.In it he then picks up a old H&H spinnerbait that the skirt looks like it was melted. So I say you wanna try one of these spinnerbait's,a $6.00 Nichols spinnerbait.Oh no I will use this H&H today,so he tie's it on and began to fish it.Well needless to say he spank me like a baby seal pup with that old H&H that day!I will never forget it either, back then you could buy a whole card of them really cheap.Larry use to coon hunt the bottoms where Lake Fork is now before the lake was filled, that should have told me something. rolfmao

I still use my Pistol grip rod when I fish any kind of top water bait that has to be worked across the water, It keeps me from slapping the rod into the water and I just find it easier to use.

Wait, I've got a sweet idea. A Retro TFF Tourney. You can only use old school stuff. Wait, that would never work. We'd all have to go out and buy a 1970's bass boat. Nevermind.

The king of stocked ponds.

The solution to any problem - work, love, money, whatever - is to go fishing, and the worse the problem, the longer the trip should be. --John Gierach

Yep... H&H's rock! Also thrown a lot of bettle spins and Johnson spoons back in the day. I will say that in the late 70's I bought a 5500C and I still have and fish it today. Also, still have 1 pistol grip in my rack, but haven't thrown it in years.

Found my first 5500C at lake Ray Hubbard on the I-30 rip rap at the railroad bridge back in the 70's it was gold the rod was broke in half and the reel was back lashed real bad,,,I guess someone had enough of it and tossed it up on the bank,,,I just bet alcohol was involved. rolfmaoTheir loss was my gain that day,I cleaned it up bought a new rod and went to town.Bought many others after that, great reel for about $50 back then. thumb

I have just recently retired a pistol grip Lew's Speed Stick and 5500C that I bought in 76 with my graduation money. I have 2 of the BPS sticks with cork p-grips with revo's that I use for top water and stick baits just easier to pop and jerk to me. Remember a white or black/yellow H&H was my go to back in the day.
