Fished Grapevine for sandies yesterday and today. Did pretty good both days, but lake conditions couldn't be more different on each day. Yesterday, I started fishing around the island with no luck. I probably would have tried a bit longer, but a wake boat used me for a racing buoy, so I headed off to the north side of the lake, somewhere off Murrell Park, near a cove for a marina. Caught several, but the bite was a little slow so I headed to the bubbles. I was the second boat there and soon after me, a boat show formed, but it didn't get too crowded. The bite at the bubbles was much better, but quality was a bit smaller, until I fished a little deeper in the bait ball. I probably landed well over 75 fish, but threw every thing back. I even caught 3 bass, one dink, a 3 lb'er and a 4 lb'er. All three bit the Ole Ugly Fly. I was fishing Ole ugly flies and slabs. Color didn't matter.
Today, lake condition was much different from yesterday. I tried to launch around 9 this morning, but the swells were above my boating skill level. Later this afternoon after my fishing partner got home from school, I decided try it again. We managed to make it out to the aerator bubbles. It wasn't wasn't as bad as this morning, but still challenging for a novice boater. As soon as our Ole Uglie's hit the water, it was fish on! We caught too many doubles to count. We lost fish count after about 25 or 30 fish. We guess we boated between 75 and 100. We kept 6 nice fish for dinner tomorrow. We would have kept going, but we raced the sun back to the ramp. It sure is nice now that my son is getting comfortable enough to load the boat. Trailer backing is next. All pictures are from today. PS. Johnny, I need more slabs!

nice catch and gig em

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

That is good information to know. It's always better to over estimate your limits than under estimate. Shows alot of wisdom.
Nice report. Thanks for sharing.

Good job Kenny. I heard the bubbles were good last week. You know bridgeport has bubbles now. It might be worth a trip there to check it out.

I didn't know BP had an aerator. I've been wanting to fish out there for some time. I'd love to snag a big ol' striper.
