well not really, this post is mainly for chochese and dosxx. salado creek has been washed out from the recent rains, especially that crazy pourdown from last week.
the water is freezing, moving moderatly faster. VERY VERY VERY muddy (worse than braunig), and regular fish are nonexistant. im hoping they are just hidding under the sloughs, but im doubting. lots of brush also went by, some areas have caved in, and other areas the water is either higher or shallower.

I'm guessing you just got back from there?
Things will probably return to normal provided we don't get rain again for a week or two.
It'll be sorted by next summer, at the least.

Kujo, did you just go today? I figured it would probably take at least a week before it calms down some. I doubt all fish are gone, if Salado had that many nice fish this summer after the flood of '02 then they are just hiding behind cover. Good thing is now all that nasty algae is washed out! I should be free on Thursday night of next week and wouldn't mind checking it out w/ you then. I think it will have calmed down a good bit providing it stays relatively dry until then. By the way, I took my dad and our kayaks to the Blanco River on Sunday and it was crystal clear. Saw a bass at least 16 inches long! The biggest I caught was a 13 incher, show you the pic when I finish the roll. Anyhow, the section we fished definitely required a kayak but there were several crossing before that were very wadeable! You guys should definitely check it out if you get the chance. We didn't fish too long cuz a nasty T-Storm came through at noon. We got hailed on the way back home! All in all it was a great outing though a short one! Tight lines fellas! Dosxx

the weeding and algae from the north area is alllllllllllll gone! slippery due to the fact that the algae are trying to reconstruct thier "gripping" surfaces, but no algae. also the little pebbles on the north are now downriver, so im not sure how the winter spawn will be doing, first time i get to see it done without weeding/algae, or pebbles. on the south the algae is also wiped off, thats kidna bad since the big ciclids feed off this stuff like crazy, so they will prolly be going for bugs now since thier "foliage" is gone, same thing goes for the rest of the fish, including bass, cause i bet those guys snack on some greens sometimes when things get rough.
me and chochese will prolly be going to corpus on sunday night to fish monday. as for you dosxx on thursday night, i have classes 8am to 9pm, but i would be intrested in fishing in the night there, have a lantern and my 5led light to bring, but i dont have a low power light thats water proof, as to not spook the fish. but i dont think they will care since the fishing pressure is like that of hunting for polar bears in the ice shelf.
