What kind of problems are you having?

I have a Matrix 25 on my dash and a Eagle 320 on my trolling motor. There are many things I like about the Matrix above the 320.

Let us know what problems you are having and they may be fixable or may be just settings you need to change.

I have a Matrix 17 and just love it. Of course I'm using it on a kayak.

Broken Rod,
Let us know what problems you have been having with your Matrix and we will see what solutions we can come up with.

Gatergar55,
A Matrix 17 on a yak? How are you mounting the transducer?

Maybe you can help me as well. I have a Matrix 10 that is showing the wrong depth. Worked great last weekend, took the boat out this weekend and the depth would read anywhere from 200ft to 880ft. Reset the defaults, and checked the transducer. Everything looks fine. Still shows proper temp. The unit is only about 10 months old.
Thanks in advance for any helpyou can offer,
Mike

Mike,

Ill definitely try to help. Lets start off with a round of questions.
Where is your transducer mounted?
Was there another depth sounder running at the same time?
Did this only happen when the trolling motor or main motor was running?
Did this happen when moving slowly or when sitting still versus moving fast?
What depths did this happen at?
Can you try your unit on another boat/transducer?

If you would like to e-mail me direct at:

Nice to see a manufacturer that is actually interested enough in their customers to participate in a forum like this! I will consider a Hummingbird during my next electronics purchase.

Ok I am going to Chime in here also. I just bought a Matrix 17 to put on the bow of My Stratos when I sit still for more than two minutes the depth will start changing to the wrong depth. For instance if I am in 5 feet of water and not moving the depth will strat reading less than 2 feet and start flashing. the wierd thing is the fast track will still show it being in 5 feet just depth numbers are wrong. I will have to move to deep water 15 plus feet for it to start reading again. So far I am not impressed with it. been a pain in the Butt. Hope someone can maybe tell me what is wrong. Thanks

I tried turning off my Eagle mounted in dash no change. Transducer is mounted to trolling motor. I really have not had it in a lot of deep water yet so I do not know if it is going to do better or not.

greg thanks for your intrest in helping with my problem this unit has problems from the time of installation it worked ok at first just showed lots of what i call surface clutter couldnt change it with adj, with sensitivty but could still use it then it would just power off checked conections at cable 12v, more testing found broken ground inside power cable that fixed the problem 2weeks later when fishing 15 to 18 ft,whater it started reading 6ft, only ran self test it was good. i work at a marina so i tried to find a boat with unit to try but we didnt have one so went @ bought another unit to try same problem turned out it was the transducer. it is clearer than it has ever been now @ working good now.thank you for intrest its great to see that hummingbird has good people that care about coustmer satisfaction thanks mike

Okay one at a time here!

Broken rod,
Glad you got everything straightened out. Transducers dont go bad all by themselves very often. Usually its some hungry stump that does them in. You just may have gotten one of the few that failed on their own.

Mikeram1,
Go ahead and send in your Matrix 10 and transducer (send transducer in just to be safe). The Techs here will look at them and help get you going again.

Bear21,
Is your Matrix 17 running off of the standard transducer or off a built-in trolling motor transducer?
Does this happen only when the trolling motor is running?
Do you know what version software you have in your Matrix?
Is there a lot of surface clutter showing and have you tried the minimum and maximum Surface Clutter menu settings?
Do you have the unit set to only show the 200kHz transducer beam?
