I'm replacing my console depth finder and will have to mount the transducer on the outside of the hull. I have a Nitro 640LS and it has the "tunnel" in front of the motor that the drain and livewell inlet are located. Is this the best place to mount the transducer or should I mount it on one side of the tunnel on the transom? It is a skimmer type transducer. Thanks

Tbill, may be to much turbulance in the tunnel. The transducer must be in smooth water when the boat is running to give a good bottom signal.

Not sure on a tunnel boat where the smooth water off the hull would be. Maybe OPTI or TOMMY can advise you.

A bad day fishin' is still better than work!
That's BOATMAN1 with the blue hat on! BUT the BOAT is fake!

TBill,

On a tunnel hull boat if you cant mount the transducer inside the hull you will have to mount it to one side or the other of the motor/tunnel. Like Boatman1 says; The transducer must be in smooth water when the boat is running to give a good bottom signal and this is true of all brands.

Get you a friend and go to the lake and let him run your boat, now you look over the back and find the smoothest water you can. Mark the spot with a sharpie pen now you know where to mount it on your boat.
