You can see my boat in my signature. You guys with boats similar to mine, I have a question for you. How do you throw your net without getting it hooked or hitting stuff in your boat? I have a 7' and a 6' net and I have a hard time throwing it in this boat because it either hits the windshield, trolling motor, rod holders, or pedestal seats. I thought about building a raised platform on the back of the boat so I can be up higher than everything when throwing it. Its either that or I will have to get a smaller net. My trolling motor is wireless so I can control it from the back of the boat, from a raised platform. No, I'm not selling my boat and getting a center console.

Yep. I throw like that anyways. Grab the horn, double it over, and throw like that. look up some new techniques.

Build a platform, and you'll be good to go. www.tinboats.net they have some great ideas on there.

Why don't you throw from front of your boat? If your throwing forward you do not have that much to hit with the net. I'll also find the technique I use for casting a net. It is pretty easy to do, it's fast, and the movements are compact.

I have a small platform at the very nose of my boat. It's not big, but just big enough for me to stand on and throw. I lost my ballance and got BIG EYE syndrome a few times, but haven't gotten wet YET. I know the time is coming. If the lake is really rough I can still throw off of the front or back decks as well, but I might remove one rod holder just to give me a little more room.

I put down the trolling motor and throw off the front of the boat, I still get caught on rod holders sometimes, but it works ok!!!

Some people throw off the back. As already mentioned, I shorten my net to about 3 ft.

Hey fish hauler you need to have a class on how to throw like that. Winters coming and I don't want to get wet. I do offer that as part of my instructional trips. I also show folks where to catch shad (where they are easy) as well as the basics of finding blues. Get a buddy and split a trip. Heck I will even let you throw for the shad a bit if you want to

Nathan, this is how I throw a net and I've got two Bee-Readys on the front of the boat on 18" risers. It works.
