You can see my boat in my signature. You guys with boats similar to mine, I have a question for you. How do you throw your net without getting it hooked or hitting stuff in your boat? I have a 7' and a 6' net and I have a hard time throwing it in this boat because it either hits the windshield, trolling motor, rod holders, or pedestal seats. I thought about building a raised platform on the back of the boat so I can be up higher than everything when throwing it. Its either that or I will have to get a smaller net. My trolling motor is wireless so I can control it from the back of the boat, from a raised platform.

I fish out of a Bayliner, i feel your grief. I use a 7' net, and it certainly is a pain. All i can say is practice. You may have to adjust the way you hold the net. I can usually throw it every time now without hitting something, but i am 6'4", so maybe that helps me out. But like you, i have strongly considered building a raised platform of some sort.

It's not the boat, it's you. There have been times that I have thrown my net over and behind the big motor. Change up the way you throw your net is my first thought. I have no problem clearing my trolling motor, rod holders, etc.

I have a similar boat but I have a huge swim platform on the back. I can stand on it and nothing is in my way. It's almost like I am standing over the water....well I guess I actually am.

Swim platforms are very useful for our type of boats when fishing.

When you hold the 6 footer with the top hand, it will be hanging 3ft down. Just fold/bundle the top, just the top, so the bottom would hang about 2ft to 2.5ft ft, then throw. You do the same with the 7 footer.

I'm throwing out of a bass boat and one of the very few advantages is the huge pitching platform forward and aft.

I think a raised platform is a great idea.

I'm assuming you are "choking up" on the net? (Folding it in half)

Best of luck,

Jackson
