I must be missing it in the book...

How many rods and how many hooks per rod is permissable to fish? I sure thought it was 2 rods with 2 hooks apiece, but I rarely see anyone fishing for cats with less than three rods.

Thanks,
John

You won't believe it, but the book (law) says 100 hooks per person is the max allowable by law.

Thanks...was on that EXACT page yesterday...

I read the little book every year (uh, I like to read a lot, yeah, that's the ticket) and it used to say 2 hooks per rod, 2 rods...but I don't have a hard copy and can't find ANY ref online other than the 100 hooks total rule.

Well, will be glad to hit it with more rods...gonna have to pick up some more rod holders :>)

I recalled reading it here on the forum a few months back and was pretty suprised. Then I realized they don't care how many rods/reels or hooks you use, as long as you don't exceed the daily bag limit.

Yep, ain't in the book this year. Here's a TPWD email response:

John

====== Begin Response =================

In Texas there is no limit on the number of rods a person can fish with.
A person cannot fish with more than 100 hooks in freshwater on all
devices combined. Example: One trotline with 50 hooks and 50 poles
with a single hook on each pole. If you have any more questions, let me
know. Thanks

One day I want to max out the 100 hooks LOL. I think it would take an hour just to tie'em up and casting would be fun. Would be interesting if the game warden came by and wanted to count them. laugh

Seriously, anyone fish with more that say 10 hooks in the water at a time?
