it's not for me......it's for my lil left handed Jewish midget buddy. With his stumpy arms and fat hands he just can't do a spinning reel so we need a baitcaster. Abu's are out cuz he was married to a Mexican soap opera star : Esmerelda Garcia. Well Esmerelda ran off with a Swedish stunt man from her show so my buddy HATES  the name Garcia and anything Swedish. And ProAngler rods are out too cuz they are just too long for him. We gotta find a short stout lil ole trolling rod for him. Sounds like he's too much hassle to take fishing. Maybe he sould take up Miniture Golf or something like that.

Maybe a little off topic but, I acquired an older Abu 6500 that the Tacklesmith is re-furbing for me. I am traditionally a Shimano person exclusively especially the larger Cardiff. But for the price I paid for the 6500 (gift), I am wanting to see if all the hype I read on hear about the superiority of Abu, is true so I have to give them a try. More results when Shawn finishes the reel and sends it back.
At least my boat and truck are paid for, woo hoo!

I have a Shimano Citica lefty that I really like...It was kind of my transition reel when I moved from spinning reels to bait casters. I also have a few old Penn bait caster reels that are lefty's, don't know the model. But I took them apart and cleaned and oiled them and they are great. Also have an Abu 5600 and its been a good reel. Originally bought it for a 3 week trip to the coast to stay with a friend who has a bay boat, and we went fishing for reds and specs every day. But it does great with the cats also, and they are really all I fish for. I'd say check out a Citica in lefty. Its a pretty dang good reel.

I have a brand new Abu 5501 "lefty version" that I will sell at the bank tourney if anyone wants it. It is spooled with 25# highvis mono and on a yellow TC rod. 45 bones and it's yours

Just google. Save yourself and a lot of others a little grief. There are things like product reviews typically attached to the product in question. I know you were looking for personal experience here, but I think you see where that went.

DO NOT BY THE ROUND PFLUGER TRION.
It is a great reel, but you can not get any parts...ever. You have to buy new reel, if you can find one. I have been looking for pawl and worm gear for the right hand version for 18 months. Have not found it yet. The pawls wear really quickly too.
