Debating between a eagle fishmark 320 and a eagle cuda 240 w/GPS. Should I go with a good fishfinder or settle with a ok fishfinder with GPS? Basically is it good or important to have a GPS unit? I only plan to fish around galveston bay. Dont plan to spend more then 200 bucks on a fishfinder. Anytips will help. thanx

I would go with the Eagle 320. Way better detail in my opinion.

I have the Eagle 320 and very happy with it. A GPS in my opinion is used for two things. 1. Marking a spot and getting back to that spot at a later date. 2. Shold you get turned aound or even lost on the lake that your on you can watch your GPS and follow the trail it recorded and your right back where you satrted from. Hopefully this would be the ramp.

Depends on if you have a hard time remembering where you catch them or where your boat ramp is. If not then there is no real need for gps. I would go with the higher resolution Eagle. You will look at the dept and fishies alot more than your gps.

Do any of you use the 320 on the front of your boat? I'm thinking about putting one on mine and mounting the transducer on my trolling motor. What are the pros and cons?

Hey gozzie, I've been thinking about putting the 320 or the 480 up front in my Stratos. I'm beginning to learn the humminbird on the console w/ the gps. I haven't decided yet if to go w/ another humminbird up front or go with another brand. Let me know what you find out.

I don't now about galveston bay but in most bays it is a good idea to have a gps to make sure in low tides that you are in the channel or cuts so you don't hit a shell bank.

Well I just ordered a 320 for the front of my boat I have a x85 on the dash that won't show the all of the depth number on the upper left side of the screen.so I guess I'll send it to Lowrance. They have the 320's on sale at bass pro for 139.00.

I have the 320 up front and the 480 in the back both work great.

If you would like to see the detail of the 320 graph pictures, hop over to the crappie section and view the graph pictures under "Eagle 480".

I changed my supply wire from 14 gauge to 12 gauge and it works now.
