I know we all hear it all the time but wear your life vests and kill switches. I was never a real big believer in this until I had reality scared into me yesterday. After a decent day of fishing I was headed back to the boat ramp at about 65 mph and had my lower unit separate from my motor sending the boat into a 360 spin. It happened fast and was completely unexpected luckily me and my brother stayed in the boat. Although I may be beat up I'm thankful that it wasn't a worse situation as neither of us were wearing life vests. I know someone was looking over us. I will always have my life vest on now! Everyone please stay safe and wear it!

Apples 2 Oranges: I personally didn't read that he was on Fork and/or hit any hazzards. Correct me if I missed soomething, I could be wrong I am most of the time.

but I agree 100% Mickey D's shin dig will be much more dangerous this year than past years on the old girl..

I agree 100%, Fork is growing teeth inch by inch, I have been on the lake 6-12 days a month since May and for those that don't frequent her, she is a lot more dangerous than usual.

I would also like to hear the story of how he lost it..

Glad it didn't end badly. But it should read; "wear your life vests, kill switches, and spend some time maintaining your boat." Nuts and bolts don't just fall off.

It wasnt due to loose bolts or not properly maintaining my boat I just recently bought the boat less than a month ago. I didn't feel the boat hit anything but the lower unit was completely sheared off along with a small portion of the midcasing. I was on the Brazos at Tin Top. Mainly just wanted to let people in on the eye opener I had about wearing a life vest and kill switch.

From the transom looking back what u see are where the bolts were ripped out along with a bit of the mid case
looking towards the boat u can see a piece of the mid casing is gone
I know the pictures aren't the clearest but they were taken late last night after I finally got the boat home
