Just upgraded my ancient electronics to HDS with side imaging. Where is the best place to mount the side imaging transducer on my Skeeter? Looks like the sponsons would be in the way of the best places. Any thoughts?

Call east texas sonar in longview. They have a bracket for the jack plate that gets the transducer down and back. I can side image about 5-6mph with my 998

On the bottom right side of the Jack plate. There is a hole on that side of the plate. That's where mine is mounted at.

Do you have a picture of the bracket mounted on your boat by chance?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1-91uZMoCs , I too would recommend calling up Shirley at transducer shield and saver, she'll set you up with what you need, and their products are excellent. good luck!

That is what I need.. Why mount it with the wire exposed to the back?

Thanks

I'll have to look into that.

I have a 21i and the jack plate mounting does not give me a clear picture on the right side. Doesn't matter if I mount on the left or right side of jack plate the picture on the right is bad.

If you have a pic of that mounting bracket I would like to see it! Thanks

The boat is symetrical on each side. Have you turned the transducer around and used the flip sides (??) feature to see if maybe the tranducer is bad? Just a thought.... I haven't tried mine yet. It is in the same position as the pic but the bracket is less than sturdy.

I also had problems with return quality pictures. Had lines on the left side of my side scan. I worked with Scap, he sent me photos on how to check my clearance. He thought clearance was the issue and had others say it was the jackplate. Scap built me a 1" extension thats in place now between the tranducer, shield and original bracket, sorry I dont have pictures saved to this computer and I am at work until next Tuesday. My concern was purchasing another part from Scap and it was the jackplate issue. Scap built me a splash plate as well to go under my jackplate, Not sure but i think this maybe the first one he builds for a Skeeter, I dont think he even advertises that he builds them, but thats the kind of people they are, he wanted to do everything he could to solve my problem. Everything came with nuts, bolts, etc, tape on the side with directions of install. Really never been treated that good by anyone in any buisness. I will get some pictures out as soon as I can for all to see. The bracket is solid and fit perfect. I did not install the initial bracket and transducer shield, had a local guy do that, not sure why he installed it that way, its very possible that the L-bracket and shield were pre-drilled to fit only that way by Scap for good reason. The Lowrance HDS unit has the option to select the position it is mounted, it can be mounted eitherway under the hull, just not sure if it can with this particular bracket. The wire was tucked away a little better along side of the unit when it was installed, I took this picture after taking it apart to install a temporary extension I fabricated, before dealing with Scap on the phone. My returns are better, but not the quality i was hoping for. I still have lines but not nearly as many.

mounted mine flush under the step, fished lots of trees and stumps so far no problem. you have to flip left and right in the menue for it to show up right on the screen. no bracket or guard at all. shows up perfect

This transducer is brand new. It was doing this with my old transducer as well. I had my boat at the shop and they broke my old transducer and gave me a new one.

I have also put my buddies 1197 on my boat to see if it was the unit, nope still does it.

I don't know why it does it but I feel that getting it lower might clear it up. I'm going to get a 2 x 4 and attach the ducer to that and have someone hold it down lower to see if that fixes it.

What is this flip left and right option? What do you mean you have to do that to get it to show up perfect?
