I've been in the Lewisville location a couple of time the past few weeks. Your right, they don't have much in the hook and weight section.

They never have any gamy 5/0 hooks .....that peg has been empty for around three months. They also never have any h2o tungsten weights. I figured the store is so close to the lake its gets hit up pretty hard.

And why can't they have the merchandise that is listed on the peg on the pegs. Was in Denton today looking for a crankbait had to dig to the back of the full peg to find the listed color. I guess reading is a lost art like customer service.

Im not sure specifically how Academy does its ordering, if its on a per store basis, or not.. However, maybe if enough of us fishermen approach the department or store managers, and politely express our opinions on what we feel the department is lacking, they can respond to their customers' needs. Obviously they would have to work with the vendors to ensure the supply met the demand, but maybe its do-able.

of course I may be livin in fairy tale land too.

If you want to see a sorry store then come visit the one we have in Longview. Always out of merchandise and their attitudes SUCK! I'm sure this post will get deleted pretty soon since we're not supposed to talk bad about Academy. To me the guys at corporate need to know our frustrations so mods leave it up for a little while.

I am sure it has a lot to do with centralized buyers. Doubt the store manager has much, if any, input into the stock carried. I was in one of the San Antonio stores today and encountered the same problem mentioned above. Could not find the hooks I needed, no WR flukes (any size)or baby brush hogs, very limited selection of spinner baits, 3 or 4 different colors of DD22s.

I did happen to notice the pegs with the Big Bite brand and H20 brands were full of merchandise. Kinda strange huh.

Guess I am just going to have to do better planning and order what I need instead of relying on Academy.

Many times lack of product in stores is due to vendors inability to meet demand for product. Managers have very little to zero say about how a store is stocked and re stocked.

I'm halfway between the Lewisville and the Plano West (Parker and Tollway) location, and the Plano store is generally much nicer overall and better stocked, but reports are all Academy's are getting bare, clearing out shelves to be ready for "next-season's" products I guess.
Not smart with a couple of large regional tournaments coming up the next 2 months, but if it's central ordering, that would make sense.

Over the past couple of months I've noticed more empty pegs and higher prices on the things I usually buy. I shop at the location off 75 & Forest Ln. in Dallas. I also find their selection is kinda getting smaller.

Hey, check out BPS, if you look hard enough you will find Ice Fishing poles in them, so far I have been in 3 and they all are caring them, and this is in southern stores, Memphis, Dallas, and Nashville, think they know something we dont- lol

I stopped at the Academy in Texarcana and they were full of stock.

They do tend to buy seasonally at Academy. Hunting cold weather gear now. Big ticket Christmas items around the corner. Warm weather gear fishing after that.
