I don't think it's the transducer causing this because the clutter is not constant. There is a LOT of clutter in deeper water, say 15-25 ft. Anyone else had this problem? What are the optimal settings for sensitivity, etc. 'cause the factory settings aren't working for me. I've spent an hour adjusting everything but it doesn't work. Also, it's not electrical interference because this happens with everything turned off and the big motor not running. Any advice and help would be great. I love the unit, but I don't quite think I have it set up right just yet. JT

Had the same problem when I use existing wire,so I ran new wires straight to batteries.

Logo007, did your existing wires loop through your fuse panel? Mine do and I spliced on to the wires from my old depth finder after confirming with Lowrance it would work. What gauge wire did you use?

Just hooked up a new Lowrance 337 c
Just connected my new 337c Lowrance -- and lots of clutter -- cant really tell anything below - The bottom does seem to show up pretty well
I just connected to the Accessory wires off of the Dash -so that may be problem-- I messed around with sensitity -- but it just it made not pick up anything any longer -- the auto senitity doesnt seem to make any big changes -- the manual indicates the auto makes small changes over time or something like that
will run a new wire from Battery --- sounds like it may better to use a shield on the wire ?
Would it make a difference if I turned off the engine and other stuff -- blower etc -- to test it out first ??????????
Also, I DO NOT see any Large depth shown at top of Sonar screen ONLY when I am in Split screen mode with GPS --- now when I am full Sonar mode the Depth shows at top ?? any ideas ??
The example thats shown in the manual for split screen with GPS shows a Large Depth measurement at the Top Left -- so it will do it somehow
thanks for any ideas

The example thats shown in the manual for split screen with GPS shows a Large Depth measurement at the Top Left -- so it will do it somehow You can put anything you want on the screen in four different sizes with Overlay Data on the first menu. You can also move the data around the screen.

Thanks -- that is probably the problem -- I will check it when I get in the water again -- its probably why I didnt see the speed on the screen also !!!
Thanks
Lots of options on this guy ---

coveredup, As jjen suggested, you can overlay pretty much any data you want on any screen. You can also move that data around on the screen to where you want it and change the size of the data. For instance, you don't have to split you screen to navigate to a marked waypoint. You can overlay navigation on your sonar screen where you have a full screen to look for the under water structure you have marked. IMHO it's much easier to have a full sonar screen with the navigation overlayed than splitting the screen. I also have water temp, depth, and time overlayed on my sonar screen.
On the map screen, I overlaided speed. I guess my point here is you can pretty much overlay whatever data you need on each screen. Pretty neat feature.
Let's DO IT!

Txs -- I was seeing the Large Depth all right when in the full sonar screen but when going to split it was not showing -- thanks for the tip sandegr about putting navigation on top of the sonic -- that would be a nice thing
will give it a try

When in deeper water make sure that your clutter is not caused by second depth finder. I have a X25 at the console and 332C at the bow and in deeper water the feed back clutters one screen or the other. Sometimes have to shut one off. Also you should be able to ajust the clutter out with the Sensitivity control.

I have the boats depth gauge also running -- while the Lowrance on the transom -- the regular Depth guage is going through the hull under my inboard engine -- so its close -- Sounds like I may need to turn that off also ??? will try it out in a week or so

Coveredup - I just got a LMS332C and am having an issue on Lake Grapevine where it seems to show all these rectangular shaped stickups coming off the bottom where I know that Grapevine doesnt hard have a tree or any moss out in the middle of it. I am wondering if that is the clutter you are talking about? My unit is powered going through the Acc switch on my console so that may be the quick and dirty thing to try. I have a Eagle 320c on the front, but most of the time I was checking the front transducer was out of the water. I have about another week before I run out of time to take it back, so any thoughts on the phantom square clutter on bottom would be great as I mainly am doing sandbass / hybrid fishing and phantom rectangles messing up the bottom 8ft of the water column is not good.

I was on the phone with Lowrance and they really probed me about having another depth finder going, as my vertical bar problem is only at deeper depths (about 19ft and deeper), and they said that really sounds like another transducer is pinging and confusing the unit and gets worse at deeper depths. I remembered that I have a flasher in dash, so maybe that is it. Since my boat is in the shop anyway, I asked them to look at it and make sure they could not reproduce in Tulsa and sent it in

Well -- I have not been out for several weeks so have not been able to try turning off the Flasher - or running the new wire from the battery ----
I tried turning the senitity down when I had it on several weeks ago -- and that just seemed to turn off the fish finder function -- ( didnt seem to help other than make it wouldnt show anything )
By clutter -- it just seemed to have lots of clored stuff on the screen -- I think I will turn on the fish ID function --- maybe make it easier to use for me ? my old one showed fish also
will not get a chance to try again for a couple of weeks -- will let you know
( thanks for the feedback about deep water - showing more clutter when another unit is on -- I was at Texoma )

I didn't read all the threads on this subject. I couldln't wait to tell you that you need to send the unit back and try another one first. There are a number of us that have sent the 334 back and tried another one to end up sending it back for the 332. Then no trouble. We had other problems. You ought to put a search in the Forum with Lowrance 334 as the subject and you will have a bunch of stuff to read about the 334. What's a sham is the two units have to many other things NOT a like other than the antenna location.
