I would definitely go with the Optima, or any other AGM. I tried the Quik-fil battery watering system, only to have water leak from under the caps (i.e. sulfuric acid). Watering is a real pain in the butt, and I don't want that corrosive stuff in the bottom of my boat. The AGMs are easier and last much longer anyway. Plus, they usually weigh a little less.

I put two sears best biggest batteries for the last two years an they dont hold up on a 24 volt system 8 hours. I think the plates inside cant handle the pounding an vibberation. sears always prorate them butIm getting fed up with taking them inan out of my boat.

492 Ranger-- I bought two Optimas at Sam's, about $130 each. They have performed well for several trips, do not notice a drop in performance after several hours of fishing. They charge nicely with the on-board charger that I used with the conventional batteries.

I would also look at Sam's Club. I picked up a couple of their largest group 29 batteries for $72. They have more reserve power than the group 31 batts that are sold at BPS.
They will try and make you pay a $7 core charge but I fought it with the manager.
