Just checking- How many of you have caught a certified 13lb or more bass USING BRAID?----public waters in texas/or border lake. Just wondering if braid reduces your odds of getting bit by fish of that size even more than it generally does with fish of smaller sizes.

I dont think there are many TFF members on here who have caught a sharelunker. A 10'lb fish would be a better suited question.

Actually no, I like my first question better-though i am sure you are right Jersey Dan. If nobody/very few answer then that reinforces my suspicion that 13lb bass being very difficult to catch anyway, might really shy away from braid. I did not see info concerning line type on the SAL TPWD site. I know its difficult because not many have caught them

I have a 13.04 from Ivie and a 11.8 from Falcon, both on floro, but i refuse to use braid unless im flipping the thick stuff at falcon. I do believe you get less bites on braid, imo.

If a Jig, Senko or Fluke is falling 90mph down the middle of a bush, I don't see how a fish can identify the bait, eat the bait, and notice braid at the same time in .001 seconds unless they have Fork genes.

Yes on a 13 with braid. Not only a 13 with braid but a couple that size in CLEAR water with what I would consider more almost rope (65-85 lb braid).
Basically there are lots of things to improve your chances of catching one before you should start worrying about if the fish can see your line.
The answer is typically yes, the fish can see it, no matter what you are using. The fish can also probably see the big giant boat sitting above it, and feel the chop from the trolling motor, and realize that the bait you are trying to get it to bite is probably not real.

If you're worried about the fish seeing the braid, use a leader.

If you're worried about the fish seeing the braid, use a leader. What's the point of using braid then if your going to bring yourself down to a 20-25# failure point in the line.

I would think it would depend on water clarity and presentation. By that I mean in stained water throwing a frog, or in any very thick cover flipping applications it shouldnt be an issue. Clear water shakey head fishing there might be an issue... BUT, I havent caught anything over 9.55 on braid so technically I am DQ'ed from this topic.

There are applications for all kinds of line, but if you are wondering if braid lowers your chances of catching a 13, the answer is no.
If you have no cover for the fish to get buried of tangled in, then go for the smaller line and be confident. If there is a chance you might need to horse the fish some, use the braid and be confident.
