I had one for years, good unit. I upgraded to the 320's and 480's. Just a better picture. But the x-85 will show you fish. It was the top of the line for years.

I'll second everything JV says here.
I used one for years, sold it with my old boat and upgraded to the next generation of Lowrance color graphs. The X-85 was and still is a good quality graph, and I could use it again today.

Used x85 for a long time. It was a great unit. I'm now using x125 & x135. You can't go wrong with Lowrance!

I hate to be the lone dissenting opinion here... I had an X85 on the bow of my Ranger518. I found performance to be excellent in deep water. But If I I got in shallow to where I only had a foot or 2 under the transducer, the unit would get confused and sometimes lockup. I'd have to power off, wait a couple minutes, and then power back on.
I called Lowrance and they said this isn't too unusual due to the power of the unit. I found it to be a hassle.
Other than this shallow water issue it was a good unit.
By the way, in searching other boards, I found quite a few other postings about the same issue.
Good luck with your new rig!

I ran the X85 for a couple of years on my Skeeter. Decent unit really. Just upgraded to the LCX17 and X125
