I would have thought that Jeff@navionics would have come on here to explain why the 2006 premium chip is missing data for much of Ray Roberts and some of Lewisville. It would sure be nice to know how and when they are going to correct this problem. To call lakes High Definition and actually have no data for portions of the lakes just isn't right in my opinion. A list of what other HD lakes has this problem would be nice as well.

Is this problem with all of the Premium chips? I just got one last week, but I haven't put it in yet. If it is a problem with all of them please keep me posted if you can get anything done about it.

I would suggest you contact him directly about the problem. Should be contact information in his profile.
If not, just do a Google search for the Navionics site. There's a support page there that provides contact information.

I'm about to buy a new graph (LMS 334c) and map card. Although I fish all over North Texas, my home lakes are Lewisville and Ray Roberts. Can anyone offer up some advice as to which card offers the best detail on these lakes?

Buy the Lowrance chip for these lakes. The new 2006 Navionics is incomplete for these lakes. I have one and probably will take it back. No creek detail for RR and Lewisville. The Navionics will only be good if you fish ouside of Texas. Im waiting for the LEI card reader for the computer before I decide whether to take it back or not.

Their customer service doesn't seem real interested, they just say make a complaint on their web page discrepancy area. They only accept returns within 10 days. Cabelas took care of me after I called them, they were willing to take it back.

Interesting. Burning a product before ever using it on the water. Why is it incomplete? Have you been in those creeks recently? Just because a different product has data in those areas, does that mean the information is accurate? If you want all of that detail (some of it 40+ years old) you can get it here http://www.navionics.com/HMUSA.asp Its only $129 and covers the whole of the US. 3000 lakes in EXQUISITE DNR detail. Its the stuff that everyone on this site griped about being "innacurate" a few years back. I will happily provide it for you as a swap, and even refund the difference. Dont blame us when you explode your lower unit because you beleive the pretty pictures. What would you trust? An actual on the water survey conducted in the past 12 months or data that is decades old? I'm not avoiding the question, only wondering how great the anglers are who are asking it without even trying it on the water. Go ahead-blow up into those creeks at WOT beleiving what the other maps show. Then you will REALLY have something to complain about. My guys have done over 150 Lakes in the US. I can assure everyone on TFF that they know where they can, and cannot go. If you choose to go into unsurveyed areas, thats your choice. Consider it your "secret" spot.

Jeff I bought 2 of 2006 premium chips. My problem is its not that they are incomplete which they are its the way it was presented on this site. You never mentioned when showing the samples that all of the lake would not show the same detail as the samples you listed. If that was explained I doubt I would have purchased the chips. I feel like some others that we were taken advantage of and not provided all the product info correctly. I also take blame for not reviewing the chip before I bought it. Thats my fault lesson learned. The other thing was the explanation you provided in another part of the forum which stated you don't survey less than 6' of water especially when flooded timber is present. That makes no sense at all because Lake Fork should be void of alot of data but yet its very complete. You also state that we go at our own risk if going into unsurveyed areas then I guess we should all stay on the dam at Ray Roberts because everything north of the island is unsurveyed. I really perferred to have this discussion outside a public forum but I personally sent you 2 emails that went unanswered. This only makes the matter worse. I am returning mine to Cabelas who are aware of the problem and they even are giving me a 50.00 gift certificate for my trouble. Thats customer service and I wish I could say the same for Navionics. If you wish to discuss further please email me.

My tournament partner and I both were about to buy the new premium chips from Navionics. After seeing the post from Navionics above, I'll run my boat aground before I give them a dollar.

Why did my post go away? I don't believe I said anything wrong? Do posts get removed with no explanation? I asked Jeff@navionics why they could make Lake Fork in High Definition for the entire lake, but not make Ray Roberts, Eufala, and Lewisville the same way? They advertise them the same. Shouldn't they advertise that parts of the lakes are High Definition and the other parts have no data at all so the person buying it would know before they let go of $149. If people are fishing Ray Roberts for Lake Trout they are going to love the Navionics 2006 Premium chip, if they are fishing for Bass in other than deep water they may not be impressed. I'm guessing there are no Lake Trout in Ray Roberts.
P.S. I never said I wanted to run WOT through shallow water. I want map data for the lakes I fish to help me catch fish.

Ranger Z21 said it perfect!
I also have called Navionics and emailed navionics and I've been ignored. I talked to Cabelas last Thursday and they are sending me a $50 gift certificate as well for my trouble with this chip. Thank you Cabelas for standing by what you sell and for great customer service!
At this point I would think Navionics should list all the other HD lakes and tell us if any of them are complete like Lake Fork or if they are incomplete. My suggestion would be that you should be including the "old" data on the chip for incomplete lakes. This would have been nice so a person could still have "out dated" reference data to use for fishing instead of Inform:Survey and zero data as your only source of data.

To answer jjen's question on whatever happend rudapa's post.... Could be b/c Navionics is a sponser on this web site, or I'm sure that I've seen Navionics adds here on TFF .. evolution44 to answer your question .. no ... the FHSE chip does not have detailed information on Lake Lewisville. You'll only see the shape of the lake as you would on any standard texas map you bought at a gas station... Of course the zoom features DO work ... Lowrance DOES... however have a URL with a page of maps that you can download (for free) to any MMC/SD memory card and use seamlessly over what ever data is on your unit from the factory. http://www.lowrance.com/Mapping/LakeMaps/index.asp they do state they are adding maps *all the time* hehe whatever that may mean. Could be any day they throw up a Lewisville map. Just dont buy into all that **** about needing that MapCreate6.0 marketing ploy... (thnks jjen for the info on that) On the other hand... looking at the Navionics URL that Jeff gave earlier in this thread... The Hot Maps "Classic" Chip thats been out a while .... does "not" list a Lake Lewisville map at all, nor Benbrook, Grapevine, Graham, Weathorford, Worth to name a few. All of which are free downloads or already on the FHSE chip... and REALLY guys ..... IMHO .... OLD data or NOT ... this is still better than "survey incomplete" And after reading some of the complaints on the incomplete data on the Hot Maps *Premium* chip, about Lake Lewisville/Roberts. I put my $$$ on the FHSE chip, bought me a cheap mmc/sd card reader and 256 meg card. (its the same chip thats in the last two cell phones Ive had) Now I have all the maps for every lake I fish and then some, including some very nice detail of the brazos river in several areas .. Unfortunately, ... no High Definition for Lewisville ... YET |c: ... hope this helps tight lines tha BassRustler
