That is a great job and you are right about charging more at times.

NICE!! It was probably still cheaper than buying a used one, so it's still totally worth it! Nice job!!

Not much cheaper though Steven. Although some of the main parts still looked good they were discolored by lime and I did not even try to use them. The Worm gear assembly (about 9 bucks including pawl)the main gears, (About 15 bucks) and the Clutch pawl(it was just worn a tad so I replaced it (about 5 bucks) and then the customer above wanted to slick it up so I installed ABEC5 Ceramic Lightning bearings in it along with Smooth Drag Carbontex Drag. Lubed up with Cal's Purple along with Superlube and Boca High Speed Oil.

I promise this reel will out cast a new Curado E rignt out of the Box and is butter smooth.

Ah!!! I didn't think about replacement parts. Thought you had just cleaned it up. You know those Curado's are pretty smooth out of the box. I wouldn't argue that this reel now casts much smoother. I get the same kind of improved effects when I upgrade Abu level winds.
Good looking reel!

A lot like many of the Penns I receive here.

Hi Tony. Hope you and yours are all well.

Pretty much out of business here. Just doing a reel here and there, or a little rod work as I feel up to being able to handle.

Gary

Gary, What's up, you okay? You know what the Penns and most offshore and inshore reel problems can be. You are right. My Parts bills go way up in February and March when the anglers realize they probably should have some done some PM at the end of the season and the reels are frozen up.

Steven, as I said, the gears might have been okay and the clutch pawl would have still worked and the level wind assembly was stil functioning but while I had it down there is no sense in not replacing items that look worn or may give problems in the near future. I do that to all the reels I get in here. No sense in spending money to have it give you problems 1 month or 6 months down the road. When I do this to any reel it functions and will hold up as well as a new one as most of the moving parts are replaced. I could have probably even got the bearings going again but no sense having Chicken (you know what) when you can have Chicken salad.

I think that is some amazimg work. Heck, if I found a reel in that condition, I wouldn't have thought that it could ever be fixed.

Tony,

Reels showed up today. Awesome work! Thanks again for the quick turnaround. Gonna put them to the test at Falcon this next week. I still can't believe how good the Curado looks and turned out. That reel wouldn't even turn when I put it in the box to send out, and now it is better than new!

Anyone looking for a great, honest reel man, don't hesitate to send your reels to him. Yes, he is in MS, but less than two weeks turnaround time! Thanks for the visor too!
