I'm guessing that a lot of you here have a store bought tying platform or a home made version of it that all your supplies fit on. My question is... does what you use on a regular basis fit on it and is it convenient for you to use? How do you store things you know you won't use for a while?
I pretty much have what I need laid out on the table in front of me and when I'm done it all gets put up and then the vacuum comes out. I don't have a dedicated tying area. At one time I had one of those multi-drawer things from Harbor Freight that had a bunch of small ones for screws and whatnot and a few larger ones for other stuff. The one time it failed on me it went to the dumpster, (ahem) I mean recycle bin. I sat down at the table and I bumped it or something and the thing started tilting towards me so I reached up to stop it and that's when all the fornicating drawers popped open and... meh. It had an open back and what was in the drawers wasn't easily visible.
I'm open for storage ideas and if you have a hand made one you're proud of post a photo. I'm currently using Folger's plastic buckets for feathers and fur.

I use plastic tubs, with locking handles to store my materials in. I have one for fur, one for feathers, one for synthetics. I tie on an old computer desk. Someone gave me a tying station to use at conclaves and stuff. That goes on top of my computer desk. I also have a peg board that I put up recently to store stuff on the wall too. I have little bins, and a plastic organizer drawer too.

Using partitioned tackle boxes are good for accessories and hooks. Keep your threads on top, or you'll be flirting with madness

This may be weird, but I found that baby wipe containers work very well for smaller stuff. Cards of chenille fit very nicely as do packages of marabou. I have an endless supply of these things so I had to start finding uses for them.
Where do you find drawers that reproduce?

I was fortunate enough to be given a complete set of the old wooden library card files. I have 45 drawers that are 4"x24" full-o-stuff. My hooks and other findings I have in the upright plastic storage drawers you buy at Lowes.

Oooo. That card catalog looks like it does the job. Even has built in label holders. I bet it's nice and heavy too. I like the idea of the holes drilled in the inclined part on the sides to hold tools as well. Nice setup.
Is that light LED, CFL, or fluorescent? Has anyone seen one of those magnifier light that clamps onto the side of a table that has LED lights vs. others? I don't really know what to call them.

If you don't have a permenant place and have to pack up and move your materials regularly. Plastic toolboxes work very well. Sears, Lowe's, and Home Depot all carry a variety. I've used a couple from Sears that have stacking trays with comparments. They've worked well and if I want to tie somewhere else, I grab the box and go. For overflow and seldom used materials, I use the same plastic storage boxes already mentioned.
