i know it is a marketing ploy, but does anyone have a handle on this peak to peak and straight watts of output. they try to make it confusing, and they are successful! confused

pep is peak envelope power or the highest measurable voltage, rms is root mean square or the average voltage.
Pep is a higher number and the rms is lower. Comparing one to the other directly will lead to misinformation.
There is a real difference between the two and a need for the two numbers.

I may be lying but my ham radio theory is coming back to me and I think to convert from rms to pep you multiply it by 1.414 and to convert backwards from pep to rms you multiply by .707

Oh please somebody who can set us straight on this help me out. I am sinking.
