I am convinced that I have to switch line. I use trilene big game right now and am not too impressed. Too mucn memory/line tangle and when i tie on baits it breaks alot...eventhough i cut the line off a foot above the bait when im changing. I use 12 lb test and price does matter....unfortunately. If anyone has any advice it would be greatly appreciated!!

What type of knot are you using and are you wetting the line before you sinch it down? Big Game has been great for me, never breaks and yes it does have memory but that doesn't bother me. After about 6 months I respool anyway.

One thing is you are probley setting the hook to hard for that 12lb test. One of the best lines that I have come across is McCoy, low memory, and is strong. Or you can go to P-line braid, I have found out that it is stronger than powerpro and does not lose the color after a period of time. My .02.

evv59, I dont know what the name of the fishing knot i used is....im guessing its the most basic one. I lost 5 baits on it yesterday. Maybe academy left it on the shelf too long, i dont know....but i dont want that to happen again...i have heard many good things about berklet fireline but im sure how much it costs....may buy some of that

If your breaking big game that easy you got a old/bad roll of it. I use 20lb big game and have trouble breaking it out of timber. I also use another line that I really like. BPS has it and it's called Tiger Salt water high visibility 20lb test.
