I think you would be wasteing time putting one on the front, for SI to work you have to be moving,3-4mph is the speed where you get the best returns IMHO,put the SI on the console and a good color graph on the front, you can always link to the front if you really want to see whats behind the boat.

There has been many times when I wished I had it up front. Just a $$$$$ thing to me.

My ideal setup would be down scan/imaging upfront and side on console.
I like having a big screen with side.

side imaging works best when ur going in a straight path, too. if ur turning the TM either which way all the time (like everybody does) it wont really work. i guess u could always put it on a different screen like the GPS and down sounder screen and just use the side imaging when ur actually going straight.

SI on the front is very handy when fishing docks, weed-lines and following creeks.

you are correct Bombay the turning and lack of forward speed make it unpractical imo.

Why not link the two units to the side scan transducer in the back? This way you have best of both worlds. You can have your standard x-ducer on the t-motor. You can have your side scan on the back of the boat. As long as you are not overlaying your downscan it should work great, IMO.

It was my understanding when my hds 10 was installed that you could not have side imaging one more than one unit with only one lss 1 unit. You need an lss 1 unit for each unit with side imaging. If this is not so, please someone tell me how to make it work with only one lss 1.

Yep just need another ethernet cord from the Lss1 (there is 3 ports) to the bow unit, of course the only downside is everything you are seeing is from the back of the boat. Still beats not having it at all though.
