I first started fishing quite frequently about a year ago and my friend suggested Trilene big game 12 lb. test would be a good choice for line. I have had it for about a year and recently it has had so much memory and my reels (wish have been re-strung recently) have been getting tangled up when i cast like crazy reecently. I have read that keeping poles/reels inside helps keep the line from getting bad memory because of temp changes so i keep them inside. Anyone have an opnion of a better line? Or just somethin im doin wrong?

Thanks

Big B

If you don't like the memory that Big Game has, you can try Trilene XL, its a limper line that won't have as much memory. If you like the Big Game other than the memory issue, buy a can of Reel Magic and spray some directly on the line on your reel, that will help with memory a lot!!!

I have found Bagleys Silver Thread to be an excellent line. I don't have near the memory issues I did previous to switching to this line.

I have 5 Garcias strung with Big Game that I use for sandie/hybrid fishing. If I haven't used one for a while, before fishing with it, I tie on a deep diver crankbait and troll it out 50 yards or so for a few minutes. This will stretch the memory out of it. I change line at least twice a year on all the reels - more often on my favorite. When used regularly I seldom have a problem with Big Game reel memory set.... wink

I agree with oldeputy. If you get the chance troll all your line out and reel it back in slowly. This will work out any kinks, backlashes, and it streches the line to reduce line memory. I use Reel Magic every time I fish. It's truly great stuff. Change your line every so often to reduce chances of the line getting brittle. I'm sure many will disagree (especially the line manufactures) but I change my line about 1 or 2 times a year, depending on how tough I am on my equipment.

Reel Magic is super for mono but it works ten times better on braided line. Basspro and walmart sell it.

Use Reel Magic every time you go out and go buy a line that has no memory such as the many different braided lines.
