I have never used anything but mono, what would you guys suggest for a braided line. Will it eat up line guides?

Jon,
I've used braided for over 2 years now and have had no problems with any line guides.
I use power pro and like it. I do however add a mono leader of about 6 feet. I think it helps because mono is less visible then braided.
Hope that helps.

I have been using braid for a couple of years as well. I prefer either Power Pro or Spiderwire Stealth.
I have had issues with the Stealth occasionally backlashing on me (it's getting loops and such), but it is very simple to get the loops out. I have also had occasional issues with Power Pro snapping in the smaller sizes (under 50 lbs. test).
I have also tried the P-Line braid and have no complaints as of yet. In fact my only real complaint about braided line is the cost. It does last for quite a while, but it can empty your wallet quickly as well.

The packages have knot instructions in them for joining mono to braid.

No Fireline fans? I'm also going to be a first time braid user looking to fill my in-the-mail Curado.
I'm going to have a fun time searching.

When you get a backlash it does seem to make a nastier birdsnest but the flexibility in casting with a bait caster is really great and there is a lot more confidence when cranking in those big reds.
I've come to prefer PPro.
A double loop uni knot works great. They include nice knot instructions as the previous poster said.

Are you guys fishing shallow/deep...timber/open water? The reason I ask, is I've been using power pro for the past 2 years....and have had alot of problems with it breaking for no apparent reason!? I fish shallow, and alot of timber....It seems to break most of the time up above the swivel about a foot or so...don't know if it is breaking from being rubbed on timber or if it is just breaking.....any thoughts or suggestions you might have would be greatly appreciated.....
also I use 65lb exclusively(sp).....
Thanks, Steven

The only braided line I have tried is Fireline. I like it and it has worked well for me, but I guess I need to try PowerPro also.
