The no jetboat rule only appeases a small group of people who will just find something else to complain about. Too cold, too windy, too hot, too fast, too big of a motor, he fished my brushpile, the sun was in my eyes…Shut up and fish.
Stress less, relax more. Go fishing.

What we need are LESS RULES in every aspect of our lives. Oh I agree...I hate rules...especially the ones to protect ourselves in daily life. BUT in sport it creates standards. Imagine if a football team could line up anywhere on the field? Or you could catch a 100 bass and cram them into a livewell until the end of the day and then sort them out. Or a professional baseball player hitting a metal bat. Or a golfer that carries a hundred clubs with sandpaper grips on the club face.

The only problem I have with this is that, Tommy Biffle has opertunities that other people in the tournament dont. There are people in this tournament that have everything they own with them on the road this week. They do not have the opertunity to buy another boat, or borrow a boat.
If Tiger woods was dirt poor and could only afford one golf club he would have never won a tournament in his life.

I am the dirt poor guy that can only afford one "club". Maybe instead of spending 50k on a boat, only spend 40k, and keep a jet-drive lower in the back of the truck.
I've got less than 500 in my boat, motor and trailer. I've never heard a complaint from the fish I catch.

Several locals don't even have them.

People have been driving thick hull aluminum boats with jet motors for years, up the Snake river fishing for sturgeon. Drive over rocks in water a few inches deep. Some big old boats too, New Zealand ... Shotover jet boat rides are quite a hoot. from the website looks like they got new boats: Shotover or

If Tiger woods was dirt poor and could only afford one golf club he would have never won a tournament in his life. I'm actually on the left side of the aisle politically most of the time but this I disagree with. This is how all sports work. Money helps. The Cowboys can afford better players than the Bills. Hendrick Motorsports can buy better equipment than rinky-dink teams. The Yankees, Red Sox, Lakers, etc... You are never going to get every single angler on the exact same financial level until you start providing everything to the anglers at the tourney. KVD will always have some advantages because of his enormous amount of sponsor dollars. BUT, he has those sponsor dollars because he is a pretty damn good fisherman. The guys at the lower level of the Elite series knew going in that they couldn't match the dollars that the Biffles and KVDs could spend on winning tournaments.

Before you know it they will have so many rules that you won't be able to take a drink of gatorade or eat a sandwich on the boat. Why not make a rule for certain tournaments that you have to use a Falcon rod, no more that 6'6" with 10 lb line from suffix, and you can't use any thing but a 1/8 ounce weight, a 4.0 hook by Mustad with a watermelon/gold glitter baby brush hog. This all would be equal in boats rigging and all. The man is in the right. Use your resources and knowledge to make you better than the rest for that tournament.

A friend of mine slammed his lower unit and messed up the back of his bass boat when he hit a stump in Rayburn, I asked him if he considered a jet motor, since a bass bass drafts pretty shallow anyways. He said ... no, don't know anything about them. I don't either just been in the boats, they go fast.
I think I started a thread on it too ... I don;t think there were any big down sides to a jet motor.

I didn't know all golf balls were made the same wait there not and no regs on them. Over regulations are the pits of he77 so leave it alone the jet drives are just another form of moving a boat across the water. Like the hovercraft idea TFP might be rough in timber though. Saw a turbine powered hydroplane on texoma once, guy I was fishin with said put a trolling motor on it works for me. I'll bet there would be alot of whineing going on if someone showed up with a turbine rated at 250 hp and out ran everyone.
Who ever said nothing in life is impossible. Never tried slamming a revolving door.
