there's an old saying "its not what you know, its who you know" that seems appropriate for this.. although Biffle is putting a 3 pound lead on the only other jetboat competitor (J Parker). There are 2 jetboats running, not just one.

J.Parker went to high school there. I bet she knew someone too!

It is true not everyone has a jetboat or resources to get one...I guess soon everyone fishing is going to have to be able to afford 2 or 3 different boats. Why not allow tube and wade fishing?

I dont see the issue! Are they going to put rules on what type/kind/brand of Rod and Reel, baits, scent? The guy is just doing what he does best, catch fish!!!

No one complains until somebody wins using one. Menendez did it last year. Everybody hates just being out smarted.

Okay, this gripes me. I'm going to rant just a bit. I'll try to keep it "PG-13".

I see a bunch of guys with boats that cost more than both of my vehicles, and my boat combined, and they're whimpering.

GROW A PAIR! Look around youtube. There are all kinds of guys that took a little redneck ingenuity, and even less cash, bought a cheap johnboat, and a tore up jet ski, a sawzall, and some 3M adhesive, and they're running around in water that's less than a foot deep. So, if you're gonna sit there in a 50k boat and whine because you brought a knife to a gun fight, you need a good kick in the caboose. You change your lures, rods, and line to fit the conditions that you're fishing in, why not your boat? If you can afford a 50k boat, you can afford a jet drive lower unit. It bolts on in about 1/2 an hour.
It just gets on my nerves when people sit and gripe about wanting a rule, or a law to hold other people back so that they don't have to try as hard to compete. That line of thinking is what's got this entire country in the mess it's in right now. Be an American! Rely on better ideas, and effort to be competitive.

I wrote a lot more, but in the interest of not getting myself banned, I deleted it.

You have boat length requirements...so you really can't grab a 14' jon boat, 15hp, and cooler for livewell.

Bass Fishing needs a universal rule book like the PGA has! It's like a bible. It would help people find a standard...whether it's jet boats, joking about buying fish, ect.

So SO many grey areas in this sport.

Did you know you can't use a rod over 8' in some trails? Rules like that create a standard among the anglers.

I have no problems with it. Remember he is giving up other things in order to go with the jet drive. There is a give and take with each piece of equiptment they choose. A jet drive is just a tool that he chose to use.

But gotta remember he is also giving up speed, power, and fishing time. But he is planning on re-couping that by getting to some remote areas. Other guys arn't willing to take that chance.

The way I look at it is, it will cost me a little money to rent/borrow a jet drive boat but that could be the best investment I've made if it helps me get where the fish are and gives me a Classice berth.
