At my girlfriends apartments, right off her back porch there is a storm drain that a mother raccoon and three babies live in. Each night they come out to feed from the garbage cans. We occasionally throw them some bread and they keep us entertained. These are some pictures from last night. http://www.gather.com/viewSlideshow.action?albumId=33610

you keep throwin bread & they'll keep comin around & eventually get in trash cans, eat pet food & generally become serious pests, wild animals are best left to the wild, they'll only get hurt in the city

They were already around. They live in the sewer and climb in the dumpsters each night. If nothing else we are keeping them from doing the pesky things. They eat the food and go back to the sewers and seem to stay out of the dumpsters more often.

You know there's a drought going on if you have coons living in the storm sewers. They'll be looking for a new home when the first good rain comes.
I use to live at Crescent Cove Apartments in Lewisville and there use to be a lot of coons around those lakes.

We had a momma and her babies take up residence in our attic this spring. They tore up insulation and played all night long. We'd hear they run across the attic door every night.
Penny loves to fish. "Here fishie, fishie!"

When I lived in Fl I had one that would come up to my back porch and put on a show for food all the time(would really stand up and do a dance thing). It was really cool and if I didnt get outside by 7ish he would be staring in the sliding glass window giving the whats up look to us inside.
Yeah they are horrible pest, but they are just to cool.
 Boatless for minute

From time to time, when the weather isn't too hot or too cold, I'll set no-kill traps in our yard and shed. Get tons of possums and several raccoons every year. The funny thing with the racoons is that they'll drag the trap around (while they're inside it) and lay hands on whatever they can as they try to escape ... animal control releases them in the LLELA area so they have better food & water and fewer cars to run them over.
Kinda hard NOT to attract such critters when we have the bird feeders out, etc.
