should a tournament with 1000's of contestants even be considered? With as low as it is will it even be safe? And only 7 ramps that are usable? What if a storm blows up quick?

That is more up to a person to decide for themselves. I think that a lake is only as dangerous as you make it. I have not hit any stumps but I go pretty slow and I have seen boats wrecked on a full lake. The show must go on. There should be a rule change though- Bring your own water for your livewells and dump you Ice chest water into the lake before you leave.

I fish the lake a lot and honestly it is safer to me to run the lake with it down then when full. I can see all the stumps that I normally hit. LOL All of my old landmark trees have long since broken off at the water line rendering my old system of navigating the lake useless. This makes guys like me that 'think' I know where I'm going even more dangerous when the lake is up.

Just sayin....

There will be some more stumps showing up here and there, but like Ken said, most of them are out of the water now. When out of the boat lanes, I hit fewer stumps while idling.

If Hurricane-like conditions from a couple of years ago didn't stop it, what makes anyone think a couple of feet of water will do the trick?

Ken has a point and X's point is even better! It's up to each and every person to stay safe!

Its probably not worth it and extrememly dangerous... but its all about the money.

Somebody will get hurt but hopefully no fatalities.

A good idea would be for them to allow more time between weigh in's and put a no wake zone up out in front of LFM. This would encourage people to slow down and not run and gun back and forth. Hope everyone uses some common sense out there and stays safe!

There are plenty of stumps in the boat lanes, you don't have to get out to find them.

It's a dangerous supposition to assume that because one sees more stumps and lake is 6' down that most trees are showing.

Whenever you put your boat in any lake, believe it or not,you have already made a subconscious decision that should allow you to handle any emergency or whatever mother nature throws your way, in a reasonable matter. In other words you should be in a "zone" and aware of all your surroundings. With that said, the normal everyday weekend players and the current level of fork, don't bother me, it seems everybody is just a little more wary of what is going on.And we all play together. Now for the past several years Micky D's has always had either a cold front with high winds, rain or even worse a Hurricane like Alton said, hit about the same time, put this together with 2-3000 NEW players, low water, not enough ramps, big money, did I mention that most of the people will be here for only 3 or 4 times a year (Pilgrims). This is why I will be sitting this one out. Its not the everyday crew thats the problem, its the current conditions + the influx of all the other people, so I'll be sitting on the point drinking beer, eating popcorn......if you watch the monkey long enough, he'll put on a pretty good show

This topic leads me to another "TIP OF THE MONTH"

biggest problem i see during the McDonalds tourny is BOAT RAMP RAMPAGE!!!!

Guys and Gals....seriously consider this!

1) BE PATIENT WITH EACH OTHER.
2) Your motors need to be trimmed up, and let the boat float off when unloading.
3) When loading on trailer.. DO NOT POWER LOAD!!! Your gonna tear the prop up severely!!!
The guy that's loading properly is trying to save a 165.00 repair or even worse .. a 500.00 prop. So be patient with him!

I've been repairing alot of props lately that have ramp damage and it can be avoided by the following steps.

1) dont back trailer in as far.
2) drive boat onto the trailer easily and turn engine OFF, trim it up and let it float onto trailer.
3) get your lazy rear off the seat and hook up the winch strap. wink
4) then tell your truck driver to back in a little more ,while your winching boat into place. Be careful!
5)pull boat off ramp and boat driver walk up to the truck.

i make a living repairing damaged props, but alot of this damage should be prevented.
skeg repair can also be avoided (skeg repairing is costly too).

BE PATIENT.. the guy in front of you and yourself will save alot of money on repairs.

p.s. weekends last longer when you carry a spare propeller

Dang Steve, that makes too much sense! Why would we want to do it the right way? Somebody please take some video of the ramp rage at McD's..

The way it looks should be over 100 boat per ramp.
